Its one of our oldest deice trucks so it has a few issues the week before the brakes were sticking so i assumed it was that when it started making weird noises and hard to drive. Then it got to the point it was deadly to drive, took it back to the shop and switched to a new truck and the mechanic took a look and said he was amazed i was even able to drive it like that haha.

I'm thinking about getting a CB for my truck! Where do you have the head unit mounted?

If its a standard DIN size you could couple that with a single DIN head unit and have both in the dash, one above the other, assuming you also wanted to upgrade your stereo or haven't already.

I have a U-bracket for my two-way radio that just slings over my passenger seat (have to remove the headrest though) for when I work in the bush. Its not at all permanent and kind of a pain in the ass though. I'll see if I can find a photo.

That's where I was thinking about mounting mine but on the passenger side!
I want to avoid mounting it in the dash, If I was planning on upgrading my head unit I'd want to out a big ol' touch screen nav in there.

I found out my stock head unit doesn't like the cold. It kept shutting off when I hit pumps or when I pushed the number 2 preset.

You can have my old cb if ya want. It may or may not be f'd. Seems no matter where i am on channel 6 i hear the southern states. I also didnt have a SWR meter when i set it up on the taco which may have been the problem.

That would be cool! I could give you some money for it if you'd prefer. Just let me know when you're in town and we'll meet up!

Thats valid. The big touchscreen really does suit the dash much better. I've had them in both my Tacomas. The 05-11 stock head unit is also a piece of crap haha. Replaced mine quickly.

It'll be a long time coming. All the nice head units are expensive, so unless it shits the bed completely I'll live with what I got! It's got an aux port, so the only real reason to upgrade would be the nav, which I'd rarely use I don't go many places I don't know how to get to. It would be luxurious though.
