I've got rust everywhere but there's no way I'm getting a new frame. I have too much tied to the frame so I'll just cut out and replace the rot as needed.

Off topic but since I'm posting pics anyway...I'm presently resurrecting my pile with some revisions.

I recently installed the Icon coilover covers on my Fox's.
I kid you not, we had 1 day of snow in november, salt got put on road, next day snow melted, truck got washed, and my fox coilover cylinder housing already had corrosion from salt spray.
I got the fox's for the DSC for ride quality.
After that incident i scrambled and bought icon covers from SDHQ on black friday.
I also purchased rear shock boots for the Icon 2.0's I installed a year ago.
    ZERO piting on the Icons.
The top hat that bolts to the frame had minor surface rust from the washers, and bushing holding water.
I realize there is significant differences between shock absorbers and coil overs but have been thoroughly impressed with my rear Icons durability through salt.
My only preventative maintenance was spraying them down with WD-40 and wiping dirt off them.
When i removed the rear 2.0's to install boots I reassembled them using Never-sieze to reduce corrosion to the mounting hardware.

I am going to protect mine anyway even with being in FL. I rather do it and not worry about the rust coming later

Are you talking about the neoprene covers for the entire coil over body? I was looking at those. How easy do they clean up?

I ordered some shock boots for my new rear Icons (2.0 RR). When i get them I think I will spray with Fluid Film before installing. Will probably hit the fronts too.

Did you just spray/soak them in this stuff or spray on a rag and wipe it all on?

I sprayed it on a rag and wiped down the coilover. I spray some right where the adjustment collar is so it doesn't get frozen on the shock body threads and then wipe off the excess.

Yes they are the neoprene covers. I haven't had them long enough to take them off and clean them. I think the covers are sprayed a heavy starch that seems to repel the water and dirt pretty well.

Well I just picked up some T-9 and coated my icons and lead pack with it for a little preventative maintenance for rust. Should dry to a "thin waxy film" so hopefully it works alright. Anyway here are a few pics.

Only time will tell how good it work.

I don't think I will wipe it off. Think I'll just let it dry as is.

Yeah looks good. I wonder after it dries if the wax film is clear or like a milky white color?

I was wondering with lubricants like fluid film that don't really dry, does dust and dirt stick to it? You would think that after 50 miles or so that everything would have a layer of dust stuck to it.

I bet it will dry to some sort of hazy color but I am not too worried about that. I originally had fluid film covering just the threads and it is a nasty yellow color and lots of dirt and muck stuck to it over the past month that made them look gross. I however LOVE fluid film for many other applications but just not to coat my coil overs with. I wanted something that had more of a dry/waxy coating that would almost act as a seal so to speak and not have crap stick to it. We shall see how this works out.
