    Alright guys,

I need your help because I did something terribly stupid. Well, two stupid things. I was cleaning up the wiring for my sub and when redoing it, I crossed my power and ground wires on my amp (Alpine MRX-M110). I didn't realize I'd done this and started trying to trouble shoot to see what was going on. It was dark and me thinking I had just plugged the RCA cables in the amp into the wrong spots, I switched them over to the pre-out slots. This caused something behind my headunit to start smoking. After that I disconnected my battery, and that's when I realized I had switched the ground and the power wire on my amp. I replaced all of the fuses on the amp and checked all of my other wiring (ground, signal wire from headunit, etc.). The head unit still works fine and my other amp is still working. I just can't get my sub amp to turn on now. Do you think my amp is toast? Any help would be appreciated. I guess this is another case of me learning the hard way to not do work without proper lighting.

    Thanks in advance!

    Reserected from the dead.
You let out the magic smoke.

Not looking good for that amp. Don't beat yourself up, we've all been there.

Educations are usually expensive or painful...or both.

I agree with Kirk, where there's magic smoke, something is toast. And yes we have and yes they usually are.

    Is what it is.

I'm kinda thinking the amp is gonna be toast. I'm gonna hook another one up with my wiring to see if I have everything wired correctly, and if it's an amp or wiring cable. I just don't know why smoke came from the head unit and not the amp. It was weird because the RCA from the amp to the head unit was hot as hell.

Yep, I'd say if you already changed out all of the fuses and its still not working then your amp is dead. Don't worry though, I remember when I was in high school I was wiring up some interior lights and somehow started a fire in my cab! Live and learn.

The blue wire from the radio triggers the amp if it was back feed the damage might well be in the head not the amp it is a very low current output.
