When heater is switched to feet air still comes through dash vents. Is this normal?

I guess you would have to shut the vents on these trucks

This appears to be by design by Toyota. I've attached a page from the manual detailing the air flow with images, if you look at the image for "feet" the image clearly illustrates airflow to both feet and the dash vents. Most answers to these kinda questions are in the manual...

Thanks for the post, I learned something new today!

Yep, my '06, '13, and '14 all worked like that.

Yeah, when set to Feet, air still comes out of the outboard dash vents, but not the inboard ones. It also does not blow air anywhere near the pedals. It's more like a 'knees' setting. Toyota, if you are listening, My knees aren't cold!

So the "feet" setting and the "feet + defogger" setting do the same thing. Hmm...

feet plus defogger turns the AC on to control humidity. also it does blow more air thru the vents that you've selected on the dial

I'm going to chime in on my 2014 DC. The heater is cheap and poor quality compared to my past Toyota's (98 4Runner, 04 4Runner). My experience with all my older Toyota's is the heaters were like a blast furnace. The 2014 Taco will keep you nice n toastie in the winter ONLY in southern states. This is a huge mistake going cheap by Toyota.
