I have a 2013 Tacoma with 17K mile on it bought it brand new from the dealer. When i have had the oil changed the last two times by the dealer each time they tell me I was 1 Qt low. So i decided to check it at 17,600 and sure enough I have 2600 miles on this oil change and I am Just about a 1/2qt low.

Is this normal to the tacomas? I come from diesel trucks were this would be completely in the normal range for oil usage.

I maybe worrying about something that is a normal standard for these trucks. Any input from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

    thanks

Have you measured oil level first thing in the morning after having it changed the previous day - to give you a base line ?

my oil stays very clean during changes (M1 full syn 5w30) I put the dip stick in 5 times and get 5 different readings lol

really not the best design on the dip stick to check the oil level - but so far it uses non from what I can tell in the last 15k mls (3 changes)

I've seen that happen with my '15 Tacoma and more so with my '14 4Runner.

I know that certain models take 4.8 qts; others take 5.5 qts.

I wonder if someone filled a 5.5 qt. model with 4.8 qts?

A single quart over 5000 miles is nothing to be concerned about.
