What would you recommend for 2015 TRD Off-Road, Pyrite Mica. Light off road use, just some mud.

    Thanks!

might get more info in the detailing section but you will find that everyone has their own favorite stuff. I would recomend you read up on the differences between synthetic sealents vs carnuba waxes.

Personally, I use Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 once every other month and Meguair's Gold Carnuba once every other month (alternating the two) I also use Meguair's Quick wax once a month.

It is not at all necessary to use both and I realize my process is total overkill but I just really enjoy the process.

Bottom line is a good synthetic will last months

Exo V2 is closest to opticoat and is amazing stuff as a sealant. Highly hydrophobic and worth the effort. No wax I've ever used is even close.

Clay bar it first, you will be amazed how much smoother even factory new paint will be afterward. Makes waxing much easier too.

I don't think it really matters much what kind of wax you use, just get a good name brand. These are not concourse-worthy vehicles, just plain old trucks.

The most important thing is to never, not even once, take it through a commercial car wash. Unless you want to spend the next 10 hours compounding all the swirls and fine scratches out.

I did the above on my white '10 when I first bought it, then hand wash/wax every 6 months or so, clay bar again once a year. You can wash more often, but I just don't care that much if it's clean all the time, just that the paint is kept in good condition. My paint, after 5.5 years, looks absolutely brand new, except of course for a few rock chips, a ding or 2 and some very small scratches.

How durable is this stuff from your own experience? Are we talking a solid year of beading up, that would be great.

Autigeek.net get some Black Fire sealant amazing stuff. I have the same brand new truck you have and same color. Bought it in October and already sealed mine. Been through 2 snow storms and lots of rain. Plus washed once a week. Water still beads up like you wouldn't believe

Thanks for the heads up man! Gona give this wax a try!

I've been using Meguiar's Carnauba wax for the last couple years. It just doesn't bead very long though and I always have to watch out for wax turning plastic parts white. (Which by the way can be cleaned permanently from the plastic with a soft pink school eraser. Using peanut butter, cleaners, back to black, etc just covers the white marks until it dries out and they return again.)

Depends how serious you are :) an OK result can be inxpensive and or easy, avery nice job can be, expensive and time consuming. I've used Zano on my 911s for years good stuff, just started using it on my Super White TRD looks great when its not muddy/dirty just take a hose to it.....blows the dirt and muck right off. This is an each to his own topic :) I like to keep my vehicles clean and tidy must say Meguiar's products have served me well :) Love that Zaino!!!

How OCD are you about your truck? I'm married with two kids so I gave up. Some guys do a bucket wash in their garage that supposedly keeps things scratch free.

Lucas Oil Slick Mist Speed Wax has been an all around great jack of all trades for this point in my life. Clay bar twice a year and the Speed Wax in between. I'll admit to spraying it down with the Lucas when it has been relatively dirty and using two or three towels. Always turns out buttery smooth with a deep shine. Plus it smells like bubble gum.

We used Opti-Coat on our TDI VW if you are interested in sealing the paint.

Somone should buy a couple of gallons Rust-Oleum NeverWet and rotisserie their Tacoma.

    None (yet)
Been using Nu Finish for years on our vehicles. Easy to apply and water beads for at least 6 months. I wax our vehicles twice a year. Be careful around the black plastic parts of your truck as this stuff will leave white stains. I use 303 Aerospace Protectant on the black plastic parts and rubber door seals.
Our 2006 Highlander Hybrid looks like new as did our 1989 F-250 when we sold in in 2004. Our new Pyrite Mica got a coat of Nu Finish as soon as we drove it home from the dealership.
I'm sure there may be other products just as good or better. Just been happy with Nu Finish for years.

Some great products mentioned here, many which I have tried. Modern chemistry though is moving quickly with companies offering hybrid sealants and composite coatings now which claim to last longer, though often not greater, than gool old carnauba.
I've been using Rupes products lately, but always trying new stuff, though in between I haven't found a better quick detailer than Pinnacle's Crystal Mist.

My brother in law turned me onto it. There are a ton of good products out there, lots of them are noted on this thread.

At the end of the day its all about how well you prep the paint. If you have time clay bar the car like another poster wrote, then seal it. Will look great with your color car. I got two kids, so the days of claying and waxing are far and few, but when I do it, I pat myself on the back.

Thanks for the heads up on the eraser.

I just clay bared both of my Camrys last week followed by a coat on Nano wax. I'm not sure how durable the Nano will be but it was easy and beaded very well so far.

I'm sure that you'll get a lot of personal opinions about wax, it's like beer, everyone has their favorites.

Go on Autogeek.net and browse around Bro, lots of info on there. Clay is a small ball of clay you use to take contaminants off the paint. You spray a liquid and move the clay around until it glides on the paint.

The same shit everyone else has.
I Optiseal mine once a year, then after washing, I'll typically just spray wax the truck.

Try a company called Shine Auto Supply. They make a sealant called Daddy-O. I use it exclusively on my S2000 and Tacoma. I'm getting a solid 8-10 months of beading and the color depth is great.
