    First post.

Just picked up a pristine used Tacoma on Sunday. Its only got 55k miles and the interior is practically spotless.

I'm posting in here because this is where I'll be doing most of my mods. The sound system is MAJORLY lacking in this base interior.

I've been researching on here as a guest for quite some time and now that I've finally found a truck and pulled the trigger, I need to start making some decisions.

First will come a head unit and backup camera. The camera is a major must-have for me. I stepped down from a 2013 Ford FX4 which had it stock and I've been spoiled by it. At any rate, I think I've decided on the Pioneer AVH-4000NEX

and am shopping and researching hard for a decent camera.
I think I like this one:

Anybody got any real-world experience with it?

As far as speakers, I'm still in a quandry. I've seen the offerings of ********* and they seem decent with their choice of Image Dynamics speakers. I have read that some of you folks don't like ********* but some do and only have OK things to say about the ID speakers. I won't be going for the most high-end ones, just the mid range price/quality.

So the ID offering is either this:

    or this:
    http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22325_Image-Dynamics-CXS64-v.2.html

But I do like the idea of Focal speakers as well. Possibly one of these:

After getting all that sorted out, I will be adding a sub. I've had dual 8"s in a ported box in my Fords before and really liked the sound of that. I'm not looking for crazy output, just a well balanced sound system. Supercrewsound offers a dual 8 or 10 box sealed and I could port that to work.

But am also considering a single 10" in a sealed enclosure. There are several offerings for this.

Whatever I do, must leave little to no permanent (unreversable) changes to the truck.

Food for thought, but if you guys wouldn't mind... I'm looking for feedback on the door speaker choices as well as a backup camera recommendation taking into consideration my truck does not have any factory stuff in place for a camera. It will most likely have to be license plate frame mounted.

    Thanks in advance!

Ill need to keep this short

There are many choices out there,
Taco tunes is simply a nono,
What you have listed will suffice, the vocals will be more musical than the Id max but the max's are louder. What amp are you gonna power these with more importantly?

Id recommend you get a good Hybrid class AB/D 5 channel amp and bridge the 4 channels to 2 to give your mids the extra juice if you choose wisely.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

So another NO vote for ********* huh? That's really interesting. As someone new to the tacoma world it's amazing to see a company that has dedicated themselves to a single vehicle platform and everyone avoids them. They must be doing something seriously wrong.

You lost me a little bit on the lingo referring to the ID speakers. I do have a 4 channel amp that is decent, but wasn't going to use that at first. Was going to simply start with the outputs from the Pioneer so I didn't have to run speaker wire. More to think about...

Still hoping for input from someone on rear view cameras and their quality and integration with the Pioneer unit.

    Thanks!
