Well, The Honda Ridgeline (classified as a "truck) Is a unibody design. Most Mecedes that I know of that are cars have frames. To say "trucks have frames, cars do not" is an afully generalized statement. Also, seeing how some trucks have fared in crash tests ( the S-10 for example), haveing a frame doesnt make the vehicle more safe than many unibody vehicles. :)

Im tired and possibly just babbling, so forgive me if I am.

What exactly do they have then, because last time i checked, cars had frames? Car frames are usually unibody construction which is not a technically true frame but it is a frame nonetheless . Cars are also made to crumple that is part of their safety mechanism unlike trucks which are built more ridged because of nature if what trucks do, compared to just being a passenger vehicle.

The car will crumple, the truck will not (as much).

You said it- cars do not have true frames and will crumple. Why are you asking me the question when you answered it yourself?

I don't classify the Ridgeline as a truck-- mainly for its unibody construction and IRS. There are many Mercedes that have unibody construction. Never said a frame is safer for the occupant-- but it seems they crumple less. We sit high in our Tacomas which IMO helps out in a crash with a sedan or other low vehicle. I guess I'm assuming the OP was in a crash with a lower vehicle.

wow..........cant believe how many options there are now with the tacoma. it wasnt like that a few years ago.

it was like a,b, or c package.

now theres tons of changes. im looking to replace my 06 that got totaled with a 08.

i was looking at the quad cab but the gas mileage looks bad. i test drove one today and it seemed a bit bouncy. maybe im just not used to the middle weight factor.

i also noticed on the quad cab i test drove that it doesnt stop anywhere near as fast as .what my access cab did.

    i gotta keep lookin'
