Hello Guys ... Quick question Im looking to change my 2011 tacoma speedometer for a 2012 OEM ... Is that possible? Is that just plug and play or Do I have to modified something?

I would also like to know if this is possible. I'm fairly certain it can be done, even the plugs on the instrument cluster assemblies appear to be the same. I know it would require finding a 2012+ cluster with the same engine and transmission. Would I need to keep anything else in mind?

They changed mid 2011. I have a 2011 and my speedo looks like the 2012+ so I would say it is possible.

Those look good, but they don't address the issue of the amber LEDs underneath. By doing a full swap, I get a better looking design and no more amber lights staring me in the face :)

I've been reading a bit more about this and also contacted someone who can adjust the mileage on the new odometer to match mine. He says that setting the odometer on a Toyota is not an exact science and that the new one could be +/-300 miles from where I want it set. He also says there is no backup location for mileage anywhere on a Toyota or Lexus. Is this true? If I can get it set close, I would go ahead and do the swap if there is no backup location. If there is a backup, I would need to pull over and do the swap on the spot when my actual mileage matches the reading set on the new odometer.

Update: I tried hooking up the new cluster just to make sure it would work, and the whole thing is a failure. None of the gauges work, all of the indicator lights are lit up, and it reads 1014 miles (the reading should be in the 87000 range). I give up on this project. I will probably just do the LED swap on my old cluster and put a 2014 face on it.
