hey i recently got a 2004 toyota tacoma SR5 pre runner. Its xtra cab and 1st gen. I absolutely hate how low it is to the ground, so i have been researching lifts and new tires and rims to figure out what i should do to my truck to make it look raised or at least not so low to the ground. My parents have told me that i could just get new and bigger tires and rims to get the truck higher off the ground, and im fine with that as long as it gets it a good amount higher off the ground. But i was also looking at raises too. The problem is that i have a limited amount of money so im looking for something that will get the job done but will not cost me a fortune. So i was wondering if you guys think just getting bigger tires and rims would get the job done and save money? If any of you guys have been through this situation or have advice it would be much appreciated. Thank you

    Bone stock (for now)
I went from the stock 265/70-16 to 265/75-16 and it looked a bit better, but the tires were stuffed pretty good in the wheel wells and rubbed on minor bumps while turning. I've since done the Bilstein 5100 height adjustable shocks on the front, set at 2.5" and it's perfect in my opinion. Now I'm waiting for decent weather to install my 1.5" add a leaf in the rear.

Not suggested but you can get a basic spacer lift kit super super cheap.

~$150 for strut spacer and shackles for rear, plus bigger tires if you decide to spend the coin those too. Don't need bigger rims. Get bigger tires. It's a bit rougher of a ride, but not too bad. I kinda like mine, but have grown to want a smoother ride but it'll cost me about a grand if not more to get a proper lift. Will eventually...
