someone smashed the back end of my tacoma up and crinkled the bed right nice. i have spoke with a couple body shops around me and they told me a 2 wheel drive bed will not fit my 4x4. all i have found is 2wd beds and was curious if will work or if i can make it work. i spent alot of time searching but barely found any information on the beds. sorry if there is a post out there but any help would be great! i just want her to look good again!

    actually, untrue.

the differences between 2wd and 4wd for both gens is the fender flares. 1st gen had square holes around the openings for the clips. I assume 2nd gen has the same or it's just sticky-taped on.

now 99- is probably the same as they didn't have the bigger flares, just the small trim pieces

    5-lug or PreRunner?

I could see a 5-lug being different, maybe (though I doubt it), but I can't imagine the PreRunner being different since it's made to look like a 4x4.

I thought the 2wd (non-preRunner) came without the flares on 05+?

I read just fine, been doing so for many years. That's also why I mentioned the 99 and under
