I've had my seat heaters installed since 2007. They're underneath the factory clothe (as seen in the writeup http://www.lieblweb.com/heatedseat.html) and I also have seat covers.

In 7 years, I haven't noticed any issues.

    nothing cool
I actually couldn't agree more. Looked way to hard for me. Had them professional installed here in KS at a place called Chux Trux. Took them about 3 hours and $199 per seat. I love them. Super warm under cloth seats.

SO what's the verdict? Which heaters work well? I am interested in this mod but bewildered by the choices listed here.

What's the best recommendation? I have the TRD sport seats, will keep them cloth.

Where did you get the power? Lots of questions... this sounds like a good mod.

I have these http://www.cobraheat.com/WarmSeats-Seat-Heater_p_8.html in my Cobra and will be installing them in my truck next week. I plan to document so I'll remember to post here when done. These work very well. I'm also having my Cobra seats re-upholstered and will be putting new ones in. I've had them for eight years without a problem but the wife's behind is not getting warm anymore (or so she says) so in go a new pair.

Finally installed the heated seats from www.cobraheat.com What a difference and what a job, as others have stated on the forum.

Would I do it again? Yes!! In a heartbeat. I have the same ones installed in my Cobra and they're great! Truck has cloth and Cobra vinyl and no issues with either of them.

I’d first like to thank the following forum people who did alot of work prior to my installation and provided a wealth of information to those looking to do this.

B737and his post on the Katzkin seat covers and seat heaters http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/239372-2012-access-cab-katzkin-leather-installation-pix-heavy.html

HomerTaco and his post on seat cover replacement http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/89333-diy-leather-interior.html

BenWA and his post on seat cover replacement http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/group-buys/140277-katzkin-leather-seat-group-buy-19.html#post3078322

My installation was just to install heated seats. I have the factory 2014 TRD cloth seats and wanted to keep them that way.

One difference I found was both the lower cover and top cover have seams in slightly different spots on year models. I only had to make the two cutouts in the lower seat heater pad and none in the back seat heater pad. This will be something you have to evaluate when doing the installation.

To save some forum space and the fact of going through pictures that have been posted many times before, I made a .pdf document that can be downloaded from my website and attached at the end of this post. I think between using this and the above posts, as well as this one will help you do the job. I have documented some of my install pictures below.

The following two pictures show the bottom cushion with the seat heater pad being positioned. Notice where I put my two cutouts on the bottom cushion to miss the hog ring area. Also, put the lead-in seam just at the back edge of the cushion so you don’t feel it when sitting. The upper seat fits over this area.

The next two pictures show the ground circuit connected to a bolt in the center console area and the power lead connection at the inside fuse panel. I used the rear power window circuit just as B737 did because I have an Access Cab.

The next few pictures show the modifications to the switch blanks and panel that have to be modified to fit the seat heater switch assembly. I can’t stress enough how important it is to take your time and be careful. Mark the center of the switch blank and drill a small pilot hole. Then you can use your step drill to finish.

You will need to cut the webbing out of the back of the blank to allow the switch to fit. You’ll also need to trim the panel opening to fit the new switch. I cut out the middle two side edges to make room for the new switch. Leave the top and bottom of the switch blank to allow it to fit firmly back into the panel.

Then next two pictures show the upper seat cushion with the heater pad being applied.I was able to put the end of the heat pad edge just below the upper cross seam on the cushion and the bottom (with the lead-in) fit perfectly under the upper cushion. I did not have to cut this pad at all.

Picture of what my dash now looks like with the switches installed.

If I had to make a choice of what was harder, the heated seat pad or the switch install, it would definitely be the switch install. Although it takes a lot of time, it is much more tedious than you think. Trying to keep the same switch blank intact is indeed a challenge all by itself. However, I love to take on a challenge and the final product has "warm" results. :)

Thought about it, but didn't want to look down to see if they were on, plus my wife likes to put her purse there. This way, I can look at the dash and see them just fine. A little more work yes, but worth it in the end.

I know I could always feel if they were on because that's how I have them in my Cobra. You can't even see them in that car.

I use these they are designed specifically for toyota vehicles and in the Tacoma the switch snaps right in to the knockouts in the dash, I get them from a wholesale distributor but have ordered these if I run out of stock they are exactly things same and work great. Perfect factory look. They are fairly reliable I have installed hundreds and only seen 2 or 3 go bad.

I got the same setup. Kit from Heatedseatkits.com It comes with tools needed and its not that hard. Couple hours and your good to go. 2 years of running them everyday its not hot out and no problems. Just make sure you run it into something that doesnt run with the key in acc. Will kill your battery quick.

I purchased the Wet Okole seat covers and before I installed them I added the seat heaters (from Ebay) right on top of my existing cloth TRD seat covers. Then I put the Wet Okole's on top of everything. This eliminates having another layer of material between my ass and the heaters. Works great! The Wet Okole seat covers are very thick so it takes a few minutes to heat them up but then they work very well. I normally have to turn them down to low after 15 minutes or so.

That looks like it came from the factory like that. Good job! And great idea. I miss having a vehicle with heated seats. Especially with the cold ass PA winters
