I got his by another vehicle when driving down the interstate about 50mph, I went into the dirt and spun out. My back rear wheel, I don't think it snapped but it is obviously bent, my back right shock busted, and my drive shaft is broken and is hanging down.
I guess the torque of the speed and then spinning at a 180 with all the weight on that back right tire busted it.

I don't know much about trucks or maintenance but have a couple of friends that are willing to assist me. I need help by:
-What parts I need to fix this?
    -Is it anything major?
-What other problems do you except I might run in to?
-Should I not work on it myself and get a shop to do it?

I know the pictures are shitty, those are the ones I took at the scene this morning.

I am an insurance adjuster here, (not an appraiser). I see this type of damage a lot. First of all, if the other car hit you and is at fault, you should file the claim under his/her insurance and let them sort it out. This type of damage, you probably want a shop to do the repairs, especially since you don't know much about mechanical repairs. The insurance company will work with your shop to make sure the repairs are done correctly. This is pretty serious damage. It basically ripped the axle backwards, likely damaging most of your suspension components. When the axle bent back, it ripped the drive shaft from the tranny. You will need specialized equipment to make sure it is aligned correctly after the damaged parts are replaced. For me, and most people, this is not a DIY job, and is likely going to cost a LOT of dough. Like $5k+. Good luck and best wishes.

On the bright side, it didn't roll over! It could be a lot worse!

Hey thanks a lot. Its really depressing seeing my truck like this. I've talked to some people and they said also the torque might have twisted my frame at the worst. I'm just going to have the insurance deal with it then. Anyone know any good shops around Columbus, Ga?

    good advice^^^
i dont think the driveshaft ripped off of the tranny at all...since the 4x4 have a slip yoke it just pulled out of there right before the carrier bearing...(like the pic he posted)
now i do believe something around the leaf spring area tore off or came undone that will need a good amount of $$$ to repair so if the other person is at fault i would definitely go through insurance for the repair.

I had something similar happen. The other persons insurance took care of everything. $16000 for repairs. The axle was bent, shocks were busted, springs were bent and broken, rear differential was all messed up.

Another vote for taking it to a shop. Glad to see it didn't flip over.

    thanks guys!
Yeah the back right tire took all the pressure and torque when going in to the ditch and spinning a 180 turn. So if its not claimed to have frame damage or be considered "totalled" I just going to put kings rears to get me out of my depressing state of mind.

Did you get insurance/contact for the other driver?

If not, your insurance plan likely has "uninsured driver / hit and run" coverage, which just boils down to a high likelihood that the repairs will be performed without you paying a cent.

If they do total it, I'd recommend pulling off your topper, and tracking down some cheap tires and wheels so you don't get like 30% of the value of the nice wheels you have and BFG's.

Your gap between the bed and cab is all kind of messed up. Make sure you get that thing checked out completely. You very well may have frame damage.
