Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
I am about to tear the dash out of my truck!

recently, the a/c started smelling like mildew or old shoes.

so i changed the cabin filter, not really any difference.

Here's my issue, i don't know WTF to do about this thing, i used the defrost for the FIRST time since i bought the truck a day or two ago, so while it may be making it worse, it did not cause the problem.

I also have not ran the a/c in over a month if not longer.

So i figured maybe there was actually mildew in the a/c or heat exchanger. so i bought lysol. I took the filter out, lysoled the piss out of it. Then i lysoled the squirrel cage. then i ran the blower on hot, and cold, fresh and recirc and lysoled in the cowl and floor intakes as well as the dash vent and defrost vent.. then i let the truck run on heat for a good 30 minutes.

so for the last 2 days my truck has smelled of nothing but lysol and ass. Now it just smells like ass.

i tried spraying axe in there too. And it rained all night so the humidity was terrible, so now i had to run the defrost this morning. SO i turned the heat all the way up and left my truck to run and bake...

This is the only truck i have ever had do this, its like the damn thing was flooded and sat in the sun with the windows up..

gasoline and a match are my next solution unless someone has a better idea lol

My stepdads 09 and my 13 have a Smell too. I'm not sure if its the same as your smell but my truck smells just like his so I'd assume it is similar to yours. No amount of little trees has defeated this yet.

I found if I run the heat for a bit when I park it or in the last few blocks to my house it goes away. Then I moved across the country and haven't had the problem in NC.

I took it apart and lysoled, cleaned everything I could even if it looked clean and ran a dehumidifier in the truck for a night before that, also changed out the cabin filter for a carbon one. Then I ditched the thing completely until I moved to NC where my truck failed a safety inspection for not having the cabin filter...

I tried fabreze first. Just smelled like a diaper after a bit. Figured some bacteria would get killed by the lysol. I don't remember exactly what did the trick but that entire experience was terrible :) and the lysol smelled just as bad as the fabreze
