I have 09 tacoma sr5 pre-runner, all stock. Will my original wheels fit the off road tires or i have to get new wheels? If i use off road tires for city commute, about 80% of the time, what are the pro's and con's about it? Thanks

You can fit whatever you want on the wheels. It's a question of what fits on the truck.

    For stock, that's 265/75R16

Stick with an all-terrain tire if you want decent handling and good overall performance. If you don't mind the road noise and want the meanest look then go with mud terrain.

Either way, 265/75/16 is a good size for the stock wheels at stock height. Good luck!

All Terrain tires are for off and on road, some are excellent off road and still are quiet to drive on the highway... and gas mileage is not a sacrifice. The Off Road TRD comes with all terrain tires (BFG Rugged Trail TA).

Inexpensive all terrain tires I have had on my Tacomas include: Toyo Open Country AT, Cooper Discoverer ATR, Hankook Dynapro ATM, Destiny Dakota AT. All are quiet, work in sand, mud, snow, rocks and highway!
The PreRunner should have come with 265/70-16 size tires (31") and you can fit the next size up without a lift or rub issue: 265/75-16 (32").

I think you're right, but they're all the same height so they'll all take a 265/75R16 or 265/70R17 without issue.

My winter tires are actually 245/75R16s. Got a good price on that size and they're narrower so should theoretically do better than a 265 width tire in the snow and ice.
