So I have decided now is probably the best time I will have to do something like this. After this summer I will have one more year of school then I will have to start my career, and getting two months off isn't the easiest thing to do.

Here is my dilemma, I can't choose where to go. Would I rather backpack through europe for two months (not the UK or Scandinavian countries), or would I rather do southeast asia.

Both of these areas sound fun and amazing, I have always wanted to see europe a lot more though. The only bad thing is that europe would be a LOT more money to do. I have looked online a lot and read a bit on travel forums, and travel blogs, trying to figure out a rough cost on how much I would need to set aside. I just really want to go do something like this while I have the time in my life to do it, not wait and regret not doing it when I had the chance.

I don't want to plan everything ahead of time, maybe just a rough route I wanna go, maybe get a europass if that's where I decide to go, and I plan on staying in cheap hostels as much as possible.

My girlfriend and I planned a trip like this for a few years, but we are no longer together and I don't want to miss out on the experience, so I will be doing it solo, and maybe meeting up with travelers from some forums.

Where would you guys recommend I choose? What do you think I would be needing to set aside for each choice? I plan on leaving at the end of june and returning home at the end of august.

Edit: Here is a list of countries I am interested in seeing. No I don't plan on cramming them all into two monthes, they are just places I would like to see.

    England
    France
    Spain
    Italy
    Greece
    Germany
    Poland
    Belgium
    Holland
    Switzerland
    Czech Republic

If I do this, I plan on buying a eurorail pass, probably a two month one. That way I can just take trains between most of these countries. (I know the UK isn't included, as well as a couple others probably)

Was thinking of flying into london, spending several days there, then doing a bit of a circle around western europe and then heading home. What route would you guys recommend? Should I start somewhere else?

    Edit 2:
I have narrowed it down to cities!
    London - Probably start/end here
    Amsterdam
    Berlin
    Prague
    Vienna
    Salzburg
    Munich
    Zurich
    Interlaken
    Gimmelwald - Mountain Hostel
    Venice
    Florence
    Rome
    Clinique Terre
    Barcelona
    Ibiza
    Nice
    Paris

Eurorail pass is the way to go. It's pricey up front (~$1000ish for 2 months) but if you buy individual tickets it's way more! Summer travel is more expensive so be prepared. Hostels are great but you need to be ready for communal living and weird people mixed with a few cool ones. Look into cheaper small hotels. Lots of them are run by mom and pop families. You can get your own room with a toilet for around $40-50/night depending on the location. Western Europe is more expensive but cooler things to see (IMO).

I happen to like London (no language barrier), Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Munich, Berlin, Prague, Lucerne, Rome, Florence, Madrid, Marseille, Athens. These cities are easier to communicate with people. The smaller towns are nice, however, they don't have as many English speakers.

Definitely go now when you are young! Don't think you can go later. DO IT! Good luck.....

Nah I wouldn't be able to handle camping for two months. As much as I love it, that is way too long for me.

I'm still trying to decided between europe and asia, and which countries to go to in each area. I also might cut it a little shorter then two months simply because of money, but I'm really hoping I won't need to.

I have narrowed it down to the main cities I would love to see. Sort of decided Greece is out of the question, too far out of the way, and would cost too much. Maybe one day.

    London - Probably start/end here
    Amsterdam
    Berlin
    Prague

    Salzburg

    Gimmelwald - Mountain Hostel
