so i was getting tired of the subs i had in my truck, 2 Rockford Fosgate 10's, and not to mention my alpine door speakers werent wired to an amp. End result i went to Freemans Car Stereo, a local audio shop, and a guy that worked there had a tacoma and had build a custom box. naturally i had to have one. I saved up for a few months and got this:
    1) Kenwood Excelon XR900-5 (5 channel amp)
    2) 2 JL Audio 10W1V3-4 subs
    3) dynamatted the rear wall behind the subs and the front doors (rear come later)
    4) 4ga KnuKonceptz wiring kit

to save money i did most of the work myself. i wired in the amp to all the speakers and put the dynamat on. so all the audio shop really did was build the box and drop it in for me.

the end result was butthole rumbling bass without sounding like crap. so hopefully this can help people when deciding to add a sound system in their Taco. thats if you like bass:D

Nice! I'm a big fan of JL. I would love to have this setup, but I use that space for things

Your obviously stupid...you don't like JL Audio subs and you can't read. Too harsh?

Anyone who wants bass without the headaches JL are cleaner sounding and don't require much power to sound good. If the box is decent JLs will make you happy everytime. And their h.o. enclosures are unbeatable.

Wow did your boyfriend piss in your cheerios this morning? You are one grumpy little guy.

JL audio is overpriced. Anyone in the audio game knows this. It's good quality but you are paying for a name brand. If that's your thing great. Personally I won't buy most of the stuff they sell strictly due to the pricing. If that somehow makes me stupid then you must be down right retarded.

Well that escalated quickly... I don't conform to any brand specifically because of people like you. However, there are brands that have my loyalty for the quality they put into their products, JL being one of them. I'm just not a fanboy of any brand because they all have their weaknesses, weather it be price or quality.

Any quality name brand product in any market whether it be audio, cars, shoes it doesn't matter, of course the name is going to bump the price up some but you are also paying for the QUALITY. Go ahead and put one of those Dual subs from Walmart in your truck it will sounds like ass but hey its only 50 dollars for a 12. There is a reason why JL audio has won so many awards and is reregarded as the TOP subwoofer maker. Most of the time when people say "oh I wouldn't spend the money on that your paying for the name" is because they can't afford it, point blank. I don't quite understand why someone would boycott a brand simply becuase of their price points. But then again there are always going to be haters out there.

Lol. Can't afford it. That statement right there shows that you want a name brand and that matters to you. I never once knocked JL. All I said it's overpriced. If you can find great deals on it there are tons of stuff I'd buy from JL. At the price they want I'll buy other equipment. And none of my equipment comes from a Walmart.
    I love that thread!!!!

First nice setup.. but to the JL lovers on this...You know it sounds like a JL audio dick war.... heres the deal, if you want to spend the money on JL go ahead.. I had a Pioneer Sub for years and it was great.. 3x less $$$$ than JL... Also i have RF now and are great too ... If you want JL audio and can afford it, and want the bragging rights, go for it.. if you cant, then get something that is a good name or been tested tried and true.. there are many brands out there that people have never heard of that are amazing... now Get the JL name out of your ass and slap your yourself..

I didn't care for jl but my alpine type x was 4 times the dept, therefore the only way I was getting close to 1000 watts rms was in jl's at 600 a piece at 2.5" deep :O love em tho they bang. custom built box, then rhino lined, stuff with pillow stuffing, sound deadening back wall of cab, still allows for full use of back seats too with room to spare so my larger buddies don't dent my gear.
