Haha. No doubt. In third world countries their Tacomas are bicycles with baskets strapped on the back.

Hey Unchained5150, you may want to take a break from this site. You've been logged on and posting everywhere...... all day and every day. Go outside for a walk or something like that.

    .... It's just my observation. YMMV. :)

BTW, I know 3 people that have new frames.... with no problems or damage.

No bull shit tell them how it is!

It just amazes me that people think these trucks are hand assembled bolt by bolt by ASE master mechanics they are factory built mass produced. One guy has one job and that is as following, put brake on, tighten bolt repeat repeat ext......

If one or two people had a shit job done holy crap all of Toyota is crap (sarcasm)...... NO! It will be fine a guy in a factory put it together, so a good Toyota mechanic at a dealer can do the same thing. I mean someone please tell me I'm not speaking freakin Dutch here.......

As much at they're losing I have to believe it's financially better to replace the frames in a few years rather than make changes to a design that is already tooled for.

have you tried to work with the dealership and toyota to make this right? or did you just let it sit and go to waste? it's probably too late after the fact to claim something with them now, but i would have went back as soon as i noticed any diminished quality

I hope the OP and others have no issues with there frame swaps. I've personally decided to sell my 08 and not go through the potential hassle, although my frame was inspected and deemed good.
It amuses me that some think that 12+ frames are better, as I thought Toyota would have learned from the 1996-1999 recall, or maybe when they extended it to 2001, oh wait maybe 2004, or perhaps the 2005 redesign, 2009? I guess maybe 2012?
Or maybe they learned about leaf springs from 1996, no wait my 2008 had the same issue, and now theres a recall upto 2014.

These issues have been going on for 20 years, if Toyota was losing so much money replacing frames and buying back trucks and it was such a concern to them I'm sure something would have been done.

We have driven Toyotas since 1973, but the new Fords are looking mighty nice. Lots of options....Sure the engines may not last as long, maybe a fuel pump, maybe even a transmission but I'm not waiting 4 months for a new frame when who knows how long it will even last as the same issue has gone on for 20 years.

I think I'm taking a break from Toyota, maybe I'll regret it but I'm sick of the same issues.

Perfectly said after owning a 1998,2001,2005,2010,and now a 2015. You honestly wouldn't think you would be going through the same crap. But hey the 2016 is coming out, maybe it will only take 10 years to fix the issues on this one. I don't blame you for switching.

Hope this helps anyone concerned about the frame replacement.

My 06 requires a new frame because while the dealer was scraping the rust off prior to applying the rust inhibitor they discovered a 1/4" hole in the frame.
The manager of the dealership set up an appointment for me to come in and have a look at the truck on the lift because I was concerned that there may have been further rust in the floor pans or anywhere else on the underside of the truck, apart from the frame.
I viewed the truck on the hoist and everything other than the frame was rust free and still in almost factory condition.
The mechanic pointed out the hole in the frame once he located it again and as I said it was no bigger than 1/4" diameter.
I then sat down with the manager and he assured me that all bolts, metal brake lines etc would be replaced as part of the frame replacement and told me that if they had to remove something and I wanted it replaced with new then it would cost me parts only.(Please make sure you understand "what has to be removed" before thinking your'e going to get new wheel bearings or something.)
I asked that shocks and rear springs be replaced but springs have now been covered by a further re-call.
The new frame will have a 15 YEAR WARRANTY and I will test drive the truck with their mechanic present, before and after the replacement to ensure all is well when I get it back.
I was told that the frame would be replaced in November but we're in January right now as they are apparently waiting on some bolts. No matter as I'm in no hurry and I would rather have the job done in good warm spring weather as opposed to the damp and wet conditions right now.

Thanx for posting. Putting my '06 up on the rack tonight to take a look myself before calling my dealer. Hoping I get as much customer service as you've gotten. Sounds like an honest dealership.
