I just bought my tacoma a few weeks ago and the guy said it had a "small suspension lift". I was wondering what type/size of lift it is? I think it's just the spacers/blocks. But is anything else different? When installing did it require longer shocks/extentions? It rides a little rough but I thought it was because it has 10 ply tires. They're 265 75 16 . Also I've read something about having to have wheel spacers for factory wheels with a lift. I don't have wheel spacers. I don't have the differential drop either. I'm definitely going for 285 tires when the time comes and hopefully new wheels. Any suggestions? Leave the lift alone or upgrade?

That's a spacer lift. coil spacer in front and block in back.

You only need wheel spacers if you're adding 285 width tires on factory rims, so as to avoid the tire hitting the upper control arm.

I'd say don't change anything unless you're unhappy with it.

Its definitely a spacer and block lift. Your ride is harsh because the spacer is ontop of the coil (preloading), vice ontop of the strut inself. Both styles have their good/bad sides. The 10 ply tires will also make it a little harsher, but nothing drastic.

You don't need spacers for a lift, but you might when you go to 285 tires. On stock wheels you'll need them. With 285's, your best wheels backspacing is 4.5". It's enough to clear the UCA's but only minimal trimming. So if your picking up aftermarket wheels, get something close to that BS.

Replacing the lift is up to you. I have a Low Range Offroad spacer right now and it's fine for what I do. Light trails and mall crawling. I plan on slowing upgrading, but in no real rush.
