As a California resident in the "greater" los angeles area, concealed carry is an urban legend. Im not a celebrity, and I cant pay off my councilman. So no permit for me. However, all is not lost. I do a lot of traveling out of state, so concealed carry is an option then. Get yourself a Utah non resident CCW. It was easy to do and only cost about $200.

    Check out the website: http://www.des.utah.gov/bci/concealedfirearms.html

Basically, all you need is to complete a basic firearms training class, then submit your application with the fees. That easy. The permit is good in 37 states. There are other options as well. Many states offer non resident permits, so do some research, find out whats best for you. Even if you wont use it on a regular basis, you should still exercise your rights. If there is a rise in CCW applications across the country, it may open this governments eyes and loosen some of the laws in some of the communist states.

Coming from The Peoples Republic of Illinois, I know what you mean. Utah is next on my ccw list. I work in Indiana (Gary) and I needed to get a ccw from somewhere. Pennsylvania non-resident was easy to get as they're a shall issue state. $26 dollars and is good in most of the states that I'm in.
