I haven't read about the issues with the shutters yet, that was a worry I thought when announced it would have them. The HVAC issues are becoming a big deal for them. I had a first gen Colorado before my Tacoma that truck literally had the worst electrical system I have ever seen and the reason why I went over to Toyota trucks.

Yeah, the shutters are failing & turning on the check-engine light, lol. I had a Silverado b4 the Taco, it was actually a really good truck, except for the "brake-line rust" issue. I just couldn't give GM anymore of my $$$ after seeing how poorly they handled the issue.

Someone please take POLYMERHEAD to the eye doctor, he thinks the 2015 Tacoma looks like a 2005 Dakota.

Car and Driver doesn't have a Truck of the Year award. They think anything with solid axle and leaf springs is heathen. :p

You may be referring to the other magazine. What was it called again? Motor Trench? Yeah...

^How is JD Power a scam? Did you not get a survey request after 90 days ownership?

Sure. Some old bugs may even be repeated due to the design changes, like the wind noise caused by 2012 grilles. New engine? Another opportunity for cracked engine mounts... New 6-spd auto? Expect software flashes to improve driveability.

An unscientific opinion survey of laypeople about their brand new cars is hardly a reasonable measure of reliability by any standard. JD Power should send their survey after 3 years of ownership rather than 3 months and see how different those results are.

^JD Power has both: an "initial quality study" done after 90 days, and a "vehicle dependability study" done after 3 years. The link Burghlar posted is actually the 3-year study, results released in 2014 on model year-2011 vehicles.

Look, I usually don't go to the extremes of posting a response such as this but Dude, are you high?????

Look inside my 08' X-runner, wtf is metal besides the ignition lock cylinder? Yes, the seat belt ends, even the chrome emblem on the steering wheel is plastic. The bed is plastic, the headlights are plastic, the entire interior besides the cheap "fabrics" are plastic. What are you looking for? Higher quality plastic? Well, the 2016 taco may have that, but not by a long shot over what's already there. This is Toyota where're talking about. Now fit and finish are a different subject matter.

You go enjoy those thousand dicks on prime time TV, and then get realistic about about CURRENT automotive design and manufacturing.

^Is chocking on a thousand dicks on primetime TV still considered a disgrace?

Yeah, I was being dramatic about it. I understand plastic is plastic and the true indicator is in fact fit and finish. In my opinion, Chevy has faulted the interiors of their vehicles for at least the last 20 years. First, because in my opinion every model they produce has the same look and feel. Second, I think most buttons, switches and panels in Chevy vehicles have that 'wiggle' to them that is an indication of poor design and short usable life.

Yes, the Taco has a ton of plastic. But it feels precise (mostly). My 16 year old brother has a '97 4Runner with 260,000 miles. Looking in it, the buttons are old, worn and un-readable. But it's the original button. And it still works without fault. That is difficult to come across in a Chevy.
