Ok so now me and the wife are talking about having kids:eek:. I need a truck but have an access cab with no rear seats. I don't want to get a double cab but seem like I'm in that position( double cabs are expensive). Can you put a car seat in the front of a truck?

It's extremely not advised to have them in the front. Might even be illegal. I would recommend a double cab. I picked one up because my wife had 3 sisters and I w as constantly chauffeuring them all around. Now it works out great with kids on the way

I just sold an extended cab ranger for a double cab tacoma for the exact reasons you have.
Kids may be coming along soon and we are moving to Colorado.

Had the double cab taco for almost 2 weeks now.... LOVE it!
We picked up her 14 month old nephew last night... Car seat was a breeze with plenty of room.

Pretty sure it is illegal to put in front seat, not 100% on that. I am in the same boat as you, about to have a baby in april and lookin to switch to a dbl cab.. Good luck

After 10 years of an access cab on Tundra, I now have double cab on my Tacoma.
I couldn't live without it. When you get past the car seat phase, you will get very tired of walking around to open door and play chauffeur for the kids.

I would just bite the bullet and get a double cab, it's worth it. More storage as well

lets just say the money is the issue. Im stubborn and don't want to spend much. but wouldn't mind an early 2000 model like i once had.

Why not tell the wife to get a car to put kids in?

When my daughter was born I had an access cab and my wife had a 4Runner. The access cab worked out OK as long as nobody had to sit in front of the car seat. To do so you couldn't have legs... So we took the 4Runner everywhere as a family. I bought my first double cab when she was 4. Way better for hauling a kid around. That suicide door and a car seat get old quick.

She has one but she also works so I won't always be able to use her car and she refuses to drive a manual aka my truck.
