Thanks for the response. I have heard that toyota engines are typically noisy. I owned a 1994 toyota celica gt 5spd. I beat the hell out of that car and it came back asking for more. It was rearended when I had 285,000 miles on it. I was too young to notice if the engine was that noisy or not. But it was the most reliable vehicle I have ever driven. I do have to agree that there are so many of these 4.0 1GR-FE's out there that have great reliability. Maybe I am being paranoid. Thanks again for the response.

Or maybe those TSBs are a quick fix, so they are more flexible in the idea of fixing or improving it... Oil pump would require major work, so its much better $ to just ignore those who complain.

My suggestion to the OP is to keep putting pressure on them, Some of the things you mentioned they also did that to me, trying to make you lose hope/energy from pursuing a fix (The its normal story and the I don't hear anything fairytale) I just didn't back down and kept bothering them for 8 months. In the end, they ended up buying it back and giving me a 15', hotrod also had a similar outcome.

    Best of luck.

Shite! Mines quiet compared to that. That sounds like warranty time.

My '06 sounds just like the video... I think that is normal, especially in cold weather...

Yeah, I think I am going to take it in one more time and try to put some more pressure on them. Maybe I'll make them bring a 2015 by and compare the sound of my engine to that engine. I'm still wondering why the sound would go away when the truck is put in gear though.....

Hmmmm..... this makes me feel a little better. How many miles do you have on your '06? Did you have the sound as long as you can remember? Does your truck stop making the sound when you put it in drive or reverse?

Sorry for all the questions.... just looking for some piece of mind.

    Thanks.

I bailed at about that mileage on my '13. My commute changed and access cab was too small anyways... A few months later I got into my '14, and I'm now bailing this one at 22k. Needs change. It happens.
