Okay I bought a 2012 factory head unit for my 2011 to stream music from my phone. I got it in and it says set up BT player but does not pick up a signal. Does the head unit itself support BT or is there a module I need to buy? There was one plug one the head unit that my truck was missing.
This is the unit in question.

You won't get much info on this. It wasn't designed to go into the 2011, lots of people put these in but always run into some sort of issue at some point. Lots of times these turn out to be a bigger pain then what they are worth.

I'm guessing since there is missing plugs those went to something that controls the BT controller. I'm not sure, haven't had the chance to gut a 2014 yet to see what's behind the dash.

It works great so far. Everything but the blue tooth works. And looks a lot better than that silver radio.

I seem to remember there has to be a mic for it to work.
That may be the plug you are missing.
Get an adapter and plug one in...even if you don't use it for calls you can use it for streaming music.

I seem to remember this as well. You need the mic to get bluetooth to work period.

I have the same radio. Click the voice command button on the steering wheel and say 'pair a device' and go from there.
