Been insanely busy lately so its finally time to update this thread, like I mentioned Jeff did a killer job on everything and im loving the dmz kit.

    Shots of the bedcage:

What a bitch those bedsides were...

Never really was crazy about the kmc enduros so I finally got a new set of wheels. I told myself I wouldnt get methods since ive had them on my last two trucks and I never really liked the silver beadlock look but it grew on me and I found a deal so I drove out to victorville to pick these up. Im really happy with them, they look sweet.

I was pretty bummed out I couldnt make the superstition trip, here I am all loaded up to drive back to texas. Wheels look sweet and bedsides all mounted up.

We finally had a weekend without rain so I pulled the skid and hit the bumper with paint.

Plans for the immediate future are basically just

    - hitting the bedsides with paint hopefully next weekend
    - upgrading the coilovers to 600#coils and possibly a revalve (already had the bypasses revalved)
    - bhlm headlights (current headlight cracked)
    - new tail lights (current taillights fubar)
    - building a new support and doing away with the factory support that the headlights and grille bolt to

I really want to upgrade to 35s too when its time for new tires but im not 100% on that

Thanks jeff, killer job. Might need to do some clearancing and a the cab mount chop so I can run 35s without spindles in the future

No problem. You might want to look into a big boy rear end down the road to keep those 35s away from the shocks. A tundra rear end or an econoline Ford 9".

Yeah tundra rear end would be sweet, I might have a line on some coils so im going to see how it sits on the current tires and see how I like the stance, might just stick with the 33s for now and save up to cage in the long run down the road.

My 2 cents. Tundra rear end on a second gen is nearly pointless. Same gearset, slightly larger diamater axle than the taco...but only on the shaft itself. It tapers to the same diameter/spline as the taco. And it's only 1" wider than the 2nd gen axle.

Save yourself the grief and money and just go with a 9".

So you think a 9" would be a better all around? How tough is a swap like that?

    Swap is fairly painless.
You need a pinion flange adapter that replaces the factory ford yoke to accept the yota driveshaft.
Convert metric brake line to SAE brake line (or just run new lines).
If you buy a junkyard axle you'll need 6 lug axles and brakes. Currie sells everything for that
    Aaaaaaaaannnd....I'm forgetting something.

Ohhhh. If you're a prerunner, you'll lose the factory speed spensor. Search around, pretty sure there's someone who's done something with getting the speed out of the transmission or something. My knowledge for 2nd gens is not what it is for first gens.

And obviously you'll lose the worthless ABS on the truck.

abs or speed sensors. whatever the plugs are at each rear wheel. econoline is 68.5" wide, the one im running, and dont worry bout curie for the axles. any machine shop can plug and drill you your 6 on 5.5 pattern.

Yeah axle swap will have to wait for a while all my money is basically gone haha but I would love to get it caged so thats probably the next thing I will save for (wont happen for at least a year at the minimum).

and Thanks NYCO it started as a turtle pace thread but it picked up pretty quick.

Coils should be shipping out tomorrow too, got lucky, keeping fingers crossed they wont be sold before I get them.

Coils just came in the mail, im calling bullshit on one testing session for 80 miles on them but whatever I got them for cheap so I'll run them. Probably powdercoat them first. I'll probably just powder them the same color unless I think of something that will look clean and look good.

Decided to spend some time on the truck today. I have a bunch of little things to do the truck so I got after it.

Springs needed some paint so I tried some high temp header paint on them, the spray can sprayed like shit and they generally look pretty shitty and will probably chip with the flex of the spring but better than the picture above for now, I'll probably strip them down and do them right the next couple of weekends.

Got sick of wood blocks and the sketchy life. Decided my life was worth the cost and picked up some 12 ton jack stands:

I had a lot of free time today so the original plan was to pull the coilovers, swap springs, install new mounting plates, new lower uniball bolts from total chaos, and then some miscellaneous work on the interior like cabin filter, painting plastic trim, and replacing the cloth arm rests with some nice vinyl I picked up last summer for cheap. Well as soon as I got home from getting the jackstands it started raining so it will all have to wait. Not to bummed because I need to put fresh oil and revalve the coilovers anyway so that will just save me from pulling the springs an extra time. Hopefully i'll be able to work on it this month, doing a little surf trip to south texas next weekend so shooting for the weekend after.
