    Hi all,

My apologies as I am sure this has been addressed at some point, but I had no luck finding what I needed using the search function.

I very excitedly added my new variable speed wiper stalk to my 2009 Base AC 2.7 manual today, and then very un-excitedly discovered that the variable function of the new wiper stalk did not work. Upon closer examination it appears that my two wire connectors in the steering column are missing the female metal connections for the extra pins in the new stalk.
I read somewhere that some Base Tacos made in Mexico may be missing these extra wires. If this is the case, is there a way to add a new wire harness without too much difficulty? If it gets too terribly involved, I might just offload the new stalk and live with the retarded 2-speed wipers.

    Thanks all,
    Josh

Last try before I pull the plug. I called dealership service today to inquire and technician said he didn't even know if it would be possible, but even if it was, it would likely be $600-800 in the end for the new wiring harnesses and whatnot.

Anyone know how to add the variable speed wires between wiper stalk and ECU, or if it is even possible?

    Thanks,
    Josh

I ordered part 84652-33441 which looks identical to my stock stalk, but has the variable dial. It fit fine and the wiper functions worked like the original 2 speed, but the variable function did not work. I think the problem is the added pins in the new stalk have no receiving female contacts in my existing wiring harness, they are just empty slots.
    Thanks for the reply though.

Does your stalk say auto at the top? My guess is you need the other part number, search the site for a write up, there are many on tacomaworld to look through.

Yes I believe you are correct. Upon further research I see that the other part listed has only one row of pins whereas the one I bought has two rows. I will try the other one. Fortunately the seller accepted my return on this one.
    Thanks for the help!

Ended up picking this one up:

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/141553136618?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

It was listed as a pull off part from an 07 Camry, but had the part number 04141 in the title. I just got it today and installed. It works GREAT! So stoked. And just FYI, the thicker part of the intermittent "wedge" graphic correlates to a slower wiper speed.

This part was super cheap too, way cheaper than the ones that are listed specifically for Tacomas.
