    I agree with corey though

on a vehicle forum, you don't hear the hundreds of thousands of owners that say "Sup yall, truck's workin fine. Just thought yall should know."

    "Hey guys
I have absolutely no problems with my truck. Kbye"

I owned a GMC Sierra before my Tacoma. When I cruise through the GMC Sierra forums it was a bunch of people that were talking about common issues and problems they had with there GMC Sierras.

My guess is once the OP buys a Ford he will look at Ford forums and figure out they have alot of common problems too and then his head might just explode out of confusion.

Nice to hear decent and reasonable replys from many here.Perhaps Tacomas are no more prone to problems than other brands. It just seemed that way after reading these forums. Not trying to stir the pot.I recently bought my first Tacoma and was concerned about it.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
One thing to note is while the Tacoma is grouped into gens not every year is plagued with the same issues. One year may have melting headlights and another may have the world's most squeaky blower motor. It's not like "well I have a 2010 Tacoma, I guess I'll go and buy replacement headlights, frame, blower motor, throw out bearing, steering column, and disable the deadly ABS system... just in case".

Each year has some improvements/problems and fixes/bugs over the last, the only one that truly seems to transcend years and gens is frame rust (inexcusable I know, but at least they offer to make it right).

This Tacoma I have is my first Toyota of any kind. I made the switch from an 2001 S-10 after it left me sitting and needing a tow for the second time at less than 120k miles. Every vehicle I have owned before this Toyota has been Chevy, Buick, or Cadillac actually. Every one of them started to fall apart between 80 - 100k miles.

At the same time I know family members and friends with various Toyota vehicles over 200k miles with nothing but regular maintenance. So when it was time for me to buy my first brand new vehicle I just had to give the Tacoma a try first. I figured if it has problems or sucks, at least I'll be able to get high re-sale value and get into something else fairly easily. But if I bought a GM or Ford that sucked first, the depreciation would leave me down and out. So far I'm pleased with my decision and the truck has been perfect, but only time will tell what starts happening between 70 - 100k miles.
