Those are two different type of bulb bases and you will never be able to modify them to make them work. Have you taken out the old bulb to see what type of bulb it is?

I've seen some parts stores start to sell led type bulbs, so take the old bulb down with you and see if you can match it up instead of going through ebay.

I have never taken the covers off my lights but I find it hard to believe that a t-10 or 194 type bulb is going to put out enough light for a backup light, I have only ever seen these used as low light output marker or running lights. are you sure your not looking at the wrong bulb? those small bulb don't put out any sort of light you can see anything with

Yes, took the cover off and tge light in the middle is the reverse bulb. Regular white bulb with the bottom connection that looks like it was squeezed flat. Like the e second link i posted.

it must be just for show then because even the best of those small bulbs isn't going to put out much usable light to see anything with

yep, I know what you mean. my chevy would light up the whole yard when they come on but the taco is acts more like a turn signal, it gets you attention by lighting up to warn you im backing up but it doesn't light anything up worth a damn.

if you need something to help you see then maybe get those led light bars and mount it under the bumper like these: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2pcs-15W-LE...Parts_Accessories&hash=item1e8b4502ed&vxp=mtr

I know this is an old thread- but for some completion and those looking in the future, the reverse light is a number 921 (not a 194).

I've also been looking at those JDM's. Nice to hear someone speak favorably about the brand. Maybe I'll try them too. Here's another one that I am looking at. I like the idea- it more closely mimics the OEM bulb as far as light source location. And I wonder if they might make better use of the reflectors. Reviews confirm it is a 921.

yeah, i have the JDM black headlights on my truck and they're great. the headlights were a good price and nice quality so i figured why not spend a few more dollars on some bulbs and buy a brand i already know and like
