I'm considering a trip to Red River and was curious to see if anyone has been out there.

I go to Southwestern CO every summer (and have been since I was a kid) for great mountain trails with a little bit of trout fishing mixed in. This year, due to having a 2nd Kid, we can't make that trip so I'm planning to go sans family.

I went snowboarding in Red River once, but all the trails were closed except for snowmobiles so I have no idea what they are like.

I have a few questions if anyone can help.

I would be going in late May, would trails be pretty much open or still closed due to snow that early?

Is there a lot of traffic on the trails? Are they difficult enough to be interesting? I like a good challenge, not afraid of a little trail damage here and there.

    Thanks for any info.

HAHA.... ok disregard.... Just looked at their community calender. Apparently they have a motorcycle rally when I was planing on going. No thank you. Any other trail trip suggestions? Planning to drive no more than 10hrs from N TX area.
