Icon Stage 1 - max lift without stressing ball joints?

    I just put an Icon Stage 1 on, and set it for 3" lift in the front. A mechanic is telling me anything over 2.5" will put stress on the upper ball joint, and that he's seen some blow apart.

    Any experience with this?

    Window tint, k&n filter, painted grill.
    Well most of the time when you lift higher than 2.5-3" you need aftermarket upper control arms. Total chaos makes some.

    I put on Light Racing UCA's. Should have mentioned that.

    maybe your mechanic is seeing vehicles that have been going without aftermarket uca's

    That's what I'm thinking. I read 1000's of posts researching this and never heard of any issues.

    2015 tacoma sr5 4x4 access cab
    2.5 Fox coilovers shoxs remote reservoir with dsc. total chaos ucr. Rear deaver mini 3 pack aal with 2.5 adjustable fox shoxs.
    Should be fine with the uca's I got total chaos no problems..
