If anybody could help me it would be this intelligent group of tacoma drivers. I'm starting to read stories of blown head gaskets on the 4.0 especially the 07 year. Can anyone find some statistics on this ie.is it more than likely for 07's vs other years. Also it seems to be the number 6 cylinder. I'll tell you what bothers me the most is how beautifully my engine runs, probably the best engine transmission combo I've ever owned. I'd be truly bummed if my trucks life ended early. Tia

It is definitely an issue with the early 2nd gens, but I am not sure how common it really is. It seems to start with the heater blowing cold air at random times, and maybe low coolant before the CE light comes on. I am not sure if it is more common in the 07's as compared to other years though.

Your engine is running "beautifully" yet you are worried about it blowing a head gasket...Man, don't worry yourself to death.

Last serous head gasket issues I am aware of is the old 3.0 slow V-6 which ate head gaskets on a regular basis. Haven't heard of any real common issues with either the 3.4 or the 4.0.
