Here's the link to the site.

If you have, if you wouldn't mind posting photos of it mounted in the rear hitch receiver, I'd appreciate it. I'm evaluating different options for a rear receiver step or something like this. Just to try and prevent the small bumps on the painted bumper on the TRD Sport. Like the lady who rolled into the bumper I had just replaced on my 99 PreRunner in the McDonalds drive through a couple of years ago. Thanks.

That item, even the unpainted one is so overly priced, it's not even funny.

you could buy a welder from harbor freight, and needed metal to make your own for less than the cost of that... and have the welder left over for other adventures

SpareBumper might be a consideration. It is less expensive, and is twice as long at 24".

And in some states that could get you in trouble. Per the California Vehicle Code, the furthest thing that can stick out on the back of your car is the bumper. CHP seems to be cracking down on this one lately, writing people for leaving their ball hitch in when they aren't towing. I suppose if you only used it on the trail you'd be alright.

Also, as others have said, that's massively overpriced.

Really? Seriously? I challenge you to do that. Buy quarter inch plate steel and cut all of the pieces. Oh, yeah, you need to pick up that plasma cutter from Harbor Freight too. Buy the welder, a welding helmet and gloves, welding rod and the tubular steel. Drill the holes, Oh, yeah, where's that drill press and a 5/8" bit, and the band saw to cut the tubular steel? Then there's that hydraulic metal brake to bend the 1/4" steel. I think they have one of those at Harbor Freight also. Let me know how it comes out.

This thing isn't like the little Curt item that's 3" wide. It's fairly stout and it's 12" wide. The other option I was considering was this. I'm thinking it's just a little too large and flashy though. With the paint matched bumpers on the TRD Sport, I'd rather have something I could color match and it would blend in more.

The whole "It's crazy overpriced" response from people is interesting when seeing what people spend on their trucks on this site. And the funny thing is, I don't remember asking what people thought of the price, but thanks for contributing.

If you're trying to prevent parking lot bumps, then you'll need something more substantial to protect it.

Both sides of my bumper are dented or scratched from parking lots. Don't know about the back-I keep the hitch on. If you plan on any offroading, anything but the first item (even that could be problematic in some conditions) is probably going to affect your departure angle. The steps are pretty lightweight and will probably bend when hit.

    Good luck.

I actually like the first choice. The design is perfect for sliding when the tail drops due to rapid terrain change. The unit that extends out 24" is way too long, just draw a simple line from the center of axis on the rear wheels and you will see why. On my last major off road trip, 200+ miles, I had a platform rack on the back of my rig to carry extra gas, water and support gear. By the time the trip was over, I had acquired the nick name of "smack-a-rack". On most all my off road trips, I leave my ball hitch in, just to do what this one does, and have many a time bottomed out.

I would only have this thing in when doing my off road trips or have it come in flat black so it wouldn't be a flag. In addition, I have been rear ended 4 times in the last three years. This might have helped on two.

As for it being illegal, I have never heard of anyone getting a ticket, stopped or pulled over for having the receiver hitch connected. I leave mine in all the time and have so since 1978 when I first moved to California. I drive the bay area freeways everyday. Maybe when an officer stops you to do a random drug test, and he bangs his knee on the hitch, you may get a complaint.

I am going to either look into buying one, or having one made. I like it.

You posted an article for discussion. People will comment on anything about it , including price.... even though you didn't ask an opinion on it's price.

Don't get miffed about the price comments. If you like it, buy it. It's your money, not mine.

No, actually I posted an article to see if anyone had experience in buying or using one of the items in the photo.

I was just pointing out that I don't really give shit what they (you) think of the price, and that I felt that all they (you) were doing was blowing stuff out their (your) asses (ass) to make themselves (yourself) feel better. And I felt compelled to point out that they were really talking out of their asses saying they could throw one together with crap they have laying around the garage for $20.00. But I was nicer than that about it and I was still hopeful that someone would post something useful about their experience with the item.

If it wasn't for your wanting to tell me how stupid it would be to pay that much for that item, you could have taken your own advice and skipped your comment and moved on to a post where you might learn something or actually contribute something. I mean stop and think about it. Was there anything even remotely useful in your first post?

There's good information on this board. It's just a shame that you have to wade through a lot of bullshit put out there by people stroking their own fragile egos to find it.

Really? Are you old enough to be on the computer unsupervised? Like I said, There's good information on this board. It's just a shame that you have to wade through a lot of bullshit put out there by people stroking their own fragile egos to find it. 2K + posts and probably three of them useful. I'd put a smiley here but I don't see one that says dickhead.

Dude comes in here with his attitude posting a link with an open ended question. Even the picture he posted only comes up as a question mark on my computer. We're supposed to click on his unknown link to discover what his question is all about. Then he talks down to every answer he gets with language he uses in his chosen profession, and expects civility and help from the guys he's berating. I think he needs to find a way to separate his job from his personal life.

Just because you don't get the responses you want doesn't mean you need to get all bent out of shape. That is really expensive for what it is
