I think the insurance company might be saying it is a claim under the comprehensive coverage. Unless there is well documented proof that it was another motorist's fault, in which case their liability/property damage insurance is supposed to cover it..

Comprehensive covers things like road hazards, animal collisions or a falling tree limb. It is usually bundled together with the actual collision coverage so if you have one, you have the other.

You file a claim with your insurance through comprehensive coverage and have to pay your deductible. The rates really shouldn't go up because this is a comprehensive claim and not your fault but you have to check with your agent. No matter what happens to the truck, if you file a claim through your insurance you have to pay your deductible.

Erie. I never had an issue before until now. Rates are cheaper than everyone, by A LOT but I am starting to see why.

I've had a windshield get destroyed by a chunk of tire attached to the end of a steel belt thrown up by another motorist, originally left from some tractor-trailer blowout still in the road. Thank Christ for safety glass. Still had to get my car towed - they really don't let you drive those things without windshields. Could have been that, and whatever pissed off granny could have hit your truck first.
