So I began piecemealing a 3" lift kit consisting of the items below. After summing up the total, it was very close to the Icon Stage 2 Kit.

Can anyone shed light if the Bilsten setup is the 'better' option to go with considering the parts in my shopping list?

Bilstein 5100 front w/Eibach coils (Toytec kit)
    Bilstein 5160 rear
    Allpro Expedition HD leaf

    Thanks in advance?

(btw, do I need extended F/R brake lines?)

If you have the money get the Icon setup. I started with 5100's when I first lifted my truck. They rode good and performed well. Now I have extended travel Icons in the front and they are 10 times better in every way.

You may still want to go for a new leaf pack in the rear instead of the AAL that I think the Icon kit comes with.

Which is why I figured the Bilstein 5100/5160 with the Allpro leafpack would make it a better setup than the Icon Stage 2 with the AAL. Guess it aint so.

I have allpro expo leaf springs and they work great for me. If you don't carry a ton of weight all the time then the standard allpro springs will be great.

This man speaks volumes of truth right here. I started with 5100's out front and Fox 2.0 10" rear shocks. The Billies performed well, but after a wheeling trip out to the local Pismo Beach in my area, it left me desiring so much more out of my front setup than my suspension was capable of. After going with an extended 6.5" stroke SAW setup in the front, the ride and capabilities suddenly improved 10 fold. Go with the extended's with a RR if you like to off road at speed. You will be worlds happier with your decision if you go with that setup over Billie's. That's not to say that 5100's are a bad shock, because they are far from it, they are meant to be a leveling/ lifting shock which will raise your front end and handle mild offroading. That is however where their capabilities end and people should be well better educated in the differences between the two.
