Holy snap I want to do this, but I'm not sure the wife can get off school for that long. I'm really going to look into this and try to make it, but doubt I can leave for a week.

Is the plan actually "overland" or just drive from park to park?
I was thinking about towing out this year.

Also, with the 3 parks listed, what order were you planning and how long staying in each?

idk its kinda up in the air. I know the parks have good hiking, but I'm thinking of actually camping outside of the park and less primitive (and free too! :D)

The order will probably depend on the route we take

It would be nice to have my rig done by then... If I can get the rest of my stuff and installed I might head out with you guys. I should have enough pto. How much would you guys say gas would be? Booze and gas is what I'm most concerned about.

Yeah gas will be the big expense for sure. I really want to make the trip this year as my 4Runner will be built enough, but as always it's all about the finances.

I think last year I spent like $500 in gas? I'm honestly not sure. But gas is a lot cheaper this year, and keep in mind, that when once you get out of CA, gas is a lot cheaper everywhere else lol

edit: I drove 2700 total miles last year. But I went From the Bay, to Tahoe, to Moab. Then on the way home, stopped in Page AZ, Zion, Las Vegas, then home

That's it? I was thinking I was going to be spending around $1500 in gas. If that's the case I just have to make sure I can get the time off.

I am in, already have those dates off. Zion was #1 on my to do list, Arches also but I know that's north of area BFE. I'm down for it all!

Yeah it's not that bad. I'm guessing Utah has gas prices in the high $1 or low $2 range

Yea I did Zion very briefly last year and was only able to do a couple of short hikes. That place is amazing though and I want to go back. Bob gave me some places around Zion where we can camp on our own and have good views etc.

And yeah Arches is amazing too, but it's pretty much in Moab so you'll be able to check that off your list too.

LOL well the sooner you guys know, the better we can plan. I want everyone to have input so that we can plan the trip accordingly. The more people, the better, so I'm hoping the plans will accommodate as many people as possible.

If it's drive to the parks via roadway, we're likely down.
If the plan is actual offroad expo...likely not. Don't feel like driving the Tundra towing the Tacoma through that.
