Hey everybody - I worked as a certified gearhead and truck champion for Toyota 2007 - 2008 - There were two (2) things that I suggested:

    1) Build a rear drive sports car

    2) Offer the 4.7 in the Tacoma - the Tacoma has grown up, and a V6 just doesn't cut it

The 4.7 does not get any better mpg in the Tundra, than the 5.7 does, as it spins faster, and works harder. But - the 4.7 in the Tacoma would be the marriage of a lifetime!

I bought the 2013 FRS before it was advertised (winner), and my wife just bought the 2015 Tacoma TRD SPORT - a great womens truck! (I had a 2008 Tundra, and she called it the beast! LOL!

I have built >20 muscle cars in my time, and the FRS is my first tuner - already have custom built exhaust, chip, and ram air induction - it went from a cruise missle, to a rocket - why do I mention this? The 5.7 swap would require a complete drive line change (everything is totally different) The turbo can work, but you have to put up with the turbo lag and working the engine hard - with that said, the 4.7 Tacoma would be a dream - MPG, performance etc...
and yes, letting an engine breath in and out easier does increase driveability -
you may not see it on the dyno - but go drive it! I look forward to ideas/suggestions!

P.S. - If Toyota offers the 4.7 in the Tacoma, I will buy/build one immediately!

    NUFF SAID!
