Does the thermostat come apart from the housing or is it all 1 pcs??? Also, I swore I saw some aluminum housings somewhere as a replacement??

    Thanks in advance

It's all one piece. Thermostat surrounded by a plastic housing. It should also include the gasket. I recommend getting a O.E.M thermostat.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
My dealer told me that the thermostat did not ever need to be replaced, same as the hoses. I had 175,000 on my '06 on OEM stat and hoses.

Well hotrod53, my truck all of a sudden ran hot, 1st time since I bought it in 06, I have 195912 miles and I'm starting with the cheapest parts first. And don't always believe what the dealer tells you!!

Some of them say the same about transmission fluid.

If that's the case you should be starting with the radiator cap anyway. They're just as prone to failing as the t-stat and if the fail at holding pressure your boiling temperature is affected and your engine will overheat sooner. So if you want to start with cheapest first, top off your fluid and if that doesn't work replace the radiator cap with a quality OEM unit.
