So I did the mod to make the side markers blink with the turn signals, and just used some vampire connectors. Well, it caused an issue where when my lights were off, and I turned the turn signal on, it would make the parking lights on the back flicker. So today I undid it. I used wire nuts to put the wire that has to be cut, back together. But the wire that doesn't get cut, and just has a vampire connector put on it, I just removed the vampire clip , and the wire looked fine. So I just wrapped the part that had been under the vampire connector with electrical tape.

Should it be ok, or should I undo that, cut it, strip the ends and wire nut it too?

I wouldn't use wire nuts in a vehicle. Solder or butt splice only.

Don't use wire nuts. If you are going to use butt connectors, use the kind that is weatherproof (has a heat shrink tube on it instead of plastic tube).

if you want to keep the mod... wiring a diode in would stop the backfeed of electricity that causes the flickering.
