u2knetworks, was your hands-free via your existing OEM set-up or was it aftermarket? If it was OEM, did you lose that capability when you installed the 2014 nav unit? Thanks.

4x4Taco2012, it was the OEM that came with my truck. And I didn't lost any capability. It still works the same. I will still need to get the '14 controls so I can have the voice button.

To put some of you at ease on purchasing a NAV radio from FLTrucks here is my chain of events. I sent FLTrucks PM on 10/15, received PM back on availability from FL on 11/4, invoiced and paid on 11/5, at Post Office on 11/17 with October 2014 born on date, read a trillion post on installing/harnesses/steering buttons, installed 11/27 no harnesses or anything extra works great was total plug and play on my born on 8/2013 TRD-offroad, sold my 2013 Entune (non nav} unit on EBAY for $250 net total upgrade cost $200. Awesome Thank You FLTrucks

I've read through several threads and feel I have confused myself due to the extra button(s) on the 2015 steering wheel over the 2012-13.

Would a 2014-15 Entune Premium with JBL and Nav be plug and play into a 2012 with Entune JBL and NAV or would the extra steering wheel button cause functionality loss?

After previously thinking I didn't have the skills for this task, I have found a product that might prove quite useful to some of us. It is a cruise control kit from Rostra. The cables are already pre-made, and they appear to be exactly what we need with the exception of one end. I am going to be running my extra control wire into an Axxess ASWC-1 adapter. Since most guys use the Toyota specific adapter that is sold separately for that product, we are all left with an extra generic harness. That harness is where I will harvest the other end of the cable that I need.

The Rostra kit also includes the cable that we need for grounding the pin for illumination. At $10 with Prime shipping, this is a great option for guys who don't want to separately source pins, cable, etc.

I did the same thing on my 2012 trd sport, I upgraded from the base stereo and hooked up an 2013 touch screen 86140-04080

you need this for steering wheel controls, bluetooth, mic
    PT546-00120-CH

and you need this for the fm antena
    PT546-00120-AD

the only problem I have now is that the USB port in the dashboard just charges my phone, doesn't play music I'm looking for maybe another harness or wire

New to the scene here but learning quickly. Check out the post and product on using the usb and aux and the iphone adapter. Ebay has a molded adapter to plug usb and aux. That's all I have right now... Take care

Okay, so I did the wiring project today. I ran the extra wires and everything is working great. For those who are doing this on an older truck (05-11), I can confirm that it will work on our clock springs if you already have steering wheel controls. Use the same pins on the S8 connector that have been mentioned for the later model trucks. Since we do not have 28 pin harnesses behind the radio, I cannot help you with placing the new control wire since I ran mine directly into pin 11 on the ASWC-1 harness.

ok i have my head unit on the way.. I am not an expert when it comes to wiring. I have a 2013 with steering wheel controls. I plan on ordering the 2014 steering wheel controls. What do i need to order to hook the new assembly up with full functionality?

If I understand you correctly, start at post #77 and read from there. All the info you need to get your steering wheel controls working.

Any idea what wires in the 28-pin connection are allocated for the OEM Mic ? Colors?

I pulled a bonehead move when installing my amps and cut the wrong cable. I reattached all of the obvious color matched wires but had to guess on some. I'd like to get this because I do use the blutooth feature to connect to my iPhone, but without a working mic, calls come in and the caller can't hear my voice without fumbling to switch to handset mode.

If I could set up the head unit to never connect to my iPhone as a phone, I would, but this resets every time I take the key out.

    Any help is appreciated.

Hey guys, I had a plain Jane radio in my 2012 Tacoma Access cab, no bluetooth, touch screen or steering wheel controls, just a basic radio and cd player. I put a 2014 Entune non nav. in and everything works fine. I intalled a BT mic in the overhead, works fine. I wanted steering wheel controls and the voice activation, and was told here that is doable. I was also told the 2014 controls are much cheaper and work fine, and they were listed at Camelback Toyota as 2012-2014. Maybe I made a mistake ordering an after market clock spring. I just got done with the install, and absolutely nothing on the steering wheel control works. Any thoughts?

does your steering wheel match post #161 / 173???

I followed those to the letter and works fine... My truck is a 2013 though (not sure if that matters at all)

I do have the 3 wires at the s8 plug to the clock spring, (also had these on the original clock spring, but no Z1 plug on top for the control plug) I assume these do go down to the 20 pin connector that is now adapted to the 28 pin connector. The 20 pin plug did have several wires that were not being used on the stock radio, so I assumed those were for the steering wheel controls. (maybe too much assuming here!) The clock spring is going back though as the airbag plugs don't fit properly.

I've now got everything in: 2014 entune plus non nav into 2012 access cab. Microphone mounted in overhead console, new clock spring, 2014 steering wheel controls (not pre-wired at all, had to run all 4 wires from s8 plug, plus the ground) USB/Aux plug. Everything seems to work fine EXCEPT for the illumination. I tried the ground a couple of different places including directly to the neg. terminal on the battery. So does pin 4 on the s8 have to be disconnected for the #9 ground to work and are the buttons always lighted, or just when the headlights are on. Also I noticed the radio display dims when I turn on the headlights, is this normal? I haven't had the truck very long and very rarely drive at night, maybe I just never noticed before.

Bringing up this thread. Thanks to all who have figured this out. Got my controls in and working.

One question. All the other buttons light up except the select button. Is this the way they are or are my controls bad? The button works. Just doesn't light up.
