Anyone recommend a Toyota 2.7 mechanic in or near Wichita, Ks? I think I have a burnt valve. Let a cracked exhaust manifold go to long.

burnt valves are from not checking valve clearances, not from a cracked exhaust manifold.

just do a compression test with all the plugs out and report back what it reads, if they are all very close then you should be ok.

if your not one to work on it yourself then its a little early to be running to a mechanic asking or even suggesting to get the head redone just yet. if you go in asking about that, then more often then not they will do it weather you need it or not just because you asked about it and expect it to be needed, so first have them check it out and adjust the valves first as this is a good routine maint thing to do. if it still runs bad after that maybe have them pull the injectors to be tested and reconditioned before you start spending money on sensors and other things.

I think more often then not, most poor running engine problems are fixed by these two things and in a high mileage engine I think its god to do both even if it isn't running bad just as a preventive maint thing. a lot of times people are told to buy sensors and things they don't need only to find out later it turns out to be the injectors that were not working right. its because injectors are expensive but with high mileage they need to be checked and reconditioned because the sensor tells it what to do but the injector must be able to deliver the gas as needed or the engine wont work right and its not uncommon for these engines to be running on 3 cyclinders and we not even know it.
