Thread bump. I'm looking into buying the Samsung NX1. I'm doing a lot of research and reading a ton.

    Nice. Welcome!

What all appeals to you about that particular system?

Hmm its been awhile since I have kept up with them but Samsung was never a top competitor. Is this a newer model from them?

Samsung will be dominating the camera market in the next decade. They have 100 engineers working on glass alone. The NX1 has the most advanced sensor for mirror less., built small at 65nm chip technology and copper interconnects. It's just the first of its kind. It's very early, but if things go the way I think they will, the competition is going to get very hot. I can't afford a new camera at the present time.

I also like the Sony A6000 on paper.

Chaz, do you still have a camera bag for sale? Pretty sure you had one that didn't work out for you?

Looking to sell my 55-210 lens and pick up a power zoom 18-105. I find the 55-210 to be a hair too far out for my style of shooting. I might keep it since I still enjoy photographing wildlife but Ill see if the new lens can cover that ground for me. The 19mm sigma is still my favorite walk around lens. Just isn't the best when I am taking photos of a large group and want to reach out as well. Switching lenses just takes too much time and I often lose the shot I want.

Thoughts? I would be buying used so in between $400-500 depending on how ebay bids favor me.

Hoping to get some night shots this weekend too . I need to start posting my pictures in here again...

    Yes, yes you do.

I feel the same way about the Sigma. I love it but it just doesn't always work for my style of shooting. Or i just have to get really creative with positioning and stuff, which is fun but sometimes difficult

I decided to stick to primes and round out my collection. I am so very much impressed with the 19mm sigma when its being used in its range. I am going to pick up the 60mm to compliment it and then eventually get the 30mm as well.

I meant getting the 30 and then getting the 60. I may sell it, not sure yet. If I stick with primes that would be nice to hang onto but I rarely find myself using it. The only thing I like about it is that I can use continuous auto focus with it.

Gotcha, i'm not sure what i'm gonna do for my next lense, i think another prime would be nice but having a zoom lense can be handy sometimes.

The zoom would be extremely handy to have. It's just a lot of bulk to add on to the camera (1lb for the 18-105mm) and takes out the "walking" to take the pic. For sports and trucks I think it would be a great addition. You have seen Monte and Marc shoot. They can stand in one place and hit all the trucks with great shots while you and I would have to run around to get the same pic. Ill just miss some shots when I have to switch lenses. I will most likely keep the 60mm on the camera while driving for action shots since most of them are pretty distant, switch to the 30 when taking pics of trucks on obstacles and then the 19mm for group shots or when I want to be closer to the subject.

The only pack I still have for sale is a big backpack. Ruggard D3 or something like that. It came with my D7100 when I still shot Nikon.

    I'm also selling a Fuji XF 18mm f/2 and a Nikon 10-24mm lens.

I've settled into my Thinktank Retrospective 5 and don't have a need for much else when it comes to bags. If I'm only bringing one camera/lens I throw it on a strap over my shoulder. If I'm bringing my whole set up, it all fits in there.

I'm going camping in Arches in a couple weeks and I'm bringing an X-T1, 14mm, 35mm and X100T and the 28mm wide conversion lens. That's it.
I leave the 56mm at home. It's too big and too long for travel stuff for me.

I'm a prime guy, as you can see. Zooms are only useful at the extreme ends IMO. the 10-24 is nice if you know how to use a wide (most don't haha) and for reach I would love a 200-400 or so equivalent, but let's be real, I would literally use it once a year, so not worth the cost or weight ha

I primarily photograph people so my range of 21mm, 28mm, 35mm and 53mm equivalents are all I bring for travel. I have an 85mm f/1.2 equivalent for "work" sessions, ie portraits and weddings, but don't use it a ton. Rarely on the street. So I don't bring it for travel. I would love to have the focal length but it's just too heavy to justify (I'm an ultra light packer and hate extra ounces ha).

After a year with my Canon 6D, I'm coming back to mirrorless. A friend of mine works for Sony and got me a smokin' deal on an A6000 so I snagged one with the kit lens. Also bought the Metabones EF to E-Mount adapter so I can use all of my fancy L glass. Will update and provide sample photos when it arrives! This will act as a walkaround and backup to my full frame for landscape, timelapse, and video.

I am loving my sony :). Let me know how you like the metabones adapter. I have looked at it before but the cost for one plus lens just seemed a bit out there for me. Ill stick to the sigmas for now.

I just dumped my Canon dslr gear (which they had a decent mirrorless so I could more easily keep my glass), picked up a Sony a6000... wish I wouldn't have waited so long! Just picked up the Sony 70-200 lens yesterday and took a few quick pictures to test it. This one was from about 10 feet away.

Awesome choice on the a6000. For the price and size it's a great little camera!

I jumped into MFT via the Olympus OM-D E-10 Mark II several weeks ago. I'm still keeping my Canon system for serious work, but the MFT camera is definitely going to be my go-to everyday walk around / casual camera.
