    On a Tacoma, backspacing is more important then rim size. If there is not enough backspacing then the wheel tire combo will be too close to the truck and rub on frame, cab mount, fenders and flares. More backspacing will push the wheel tire combo out away from the truck giving more clearance from truck, but now you'll want to rub the fender hard. Trimming is inevitable. Diameter is personal preference above 16" .
