Hey all, my name is Dan. I have a few questions to ask. Here goes. I have an 04 tacoma v6 prerunner that seems to frequently blow headlights, and apparently tail lights too. I ran the truck for a couple/few years with a busted front corner marker light (basically exposing the system to corrosion) and was wondering if that exposure could lead to my frequent bulb blowing. I know it didn't help. Id like to test the wiring for resistance, but not sure what the correct resistance number to look for (if that makes sense). Also, i plan to bleed my brakes this weekend and was a little confused on the order as pertaining to the load sensing bpv. Any and all help is appreciated. Btw truck has 160k miles. And one more to boot, does anyone have a copy of the fsm they would be willing to share? Apologies to admins if this is in the wrong area. Thanks again, Dan

I had the same issue before I replaced the original suspension at 315k. Mine was vibration related. Also if you replace the bulbs with the Denso brand (I think that is what they are called) from Toyota they last longer than the stuff at auto parts store.

wouldn't hurt to check your voltage regulator to be sure your voltage isn't running too high, if its 14 or above change it or find out why its not regulating

Yeah that's one cause. I live on a dirt road and mine would go out often too. The vibrations cause the filaments to 'wiggle' a lot therefore wearing them out quicker.

I replaced all external lights (except headlights) with LEDs. No way vibration will cause those to fail unless they fall out of the socket.

Hey thanks for all the responses. I drive the truck mostly on the street, occasionally i take it off road. Its been doing this for a few years now. Next time i get around to replacing bulbs ill look into the densos. ive always done the autozone specials. As for projector headlights, is that still a diy thing? Also, does anyone have a fsm for this truck?

Sorry for delayed response. Been hectic past few weeks or so. Today i replaced both front headlights, only driver side was out. Also replaced driver tail light. Noticed on the tail light the gasket between the lens and assembly isnt exactly doing its job. So i ordered two new ones from Toyota. Now im also contemplating and searching Google for new headlight assemblies. Any recommendations? 1a auto has both marker and headlight assemblies for $90. Thats four assemblies. I know you get what you pay for, butany ideas? Also, anout the fsm, i did look them up on this forum, but either the links didnt work, or my phone is too lame.

just be careful to watch the reviews, many are good but some don't have very well formed reflectors and the light they put out is scattered and isn't focused well so you cant see well

Yeah, i learned from my girlfriend to review everything. I checked bbb website for reviews and they have an a+ rating, butthat doesn't mean the lenses are quality. Im in no big rush, so ill keep looking. Toyota wants $250 a light. F¥€£ that!
