So I have talked to my local Toyota dealership today about the frame rust on my 2001 Tacoma and they said that there was no open campaign. This means that I can't get my frame replaced for free and now I only have a couple of options. My first option is to pay to have my frame replaced or pay for the new frame and do the swap myself. My other option is to try and cover up the rust and sell it. I don't want to sell it because it still runs like a champ but I don't like the frame rust. What should I do?

was your frame undercoated by toyota before 2010? If so they warrant the frame 15 years from date of initial service. If its not been coated then your SOL.

Just got off the phone with toyota today about this.

I don't think that it was ever coated. I got the truck for my birthday a couple years ago. My dad bought it. I can't find anything about the frame being coated so that means that there is nothing that I can do about it?

call the dealership with your vin and they can do a history on the truck and tell you what, if anything, has been done to it.

if you just talked on the phone and they didn't check the vin number history then the guy has no idea what he is talking about or has no idea about the frame rust warranty or the 15 year undercoat warranty

Do the above. Then...if you still get a solid "no" from Toyota, you can always seek a legal remedy. It might be worth talking to an attorney. See what happens.

I recently call the stealership about my 2001 frame as well. Gave them my vin to have them look at the history, but she said they had nothing. I made a account on Toyota care website, and I discovered that the frame was replaced in 2009? Why would my local dealership not have this info? Should I still be covered for another spray? My frame is getting pretty rusty...
