ive had an random problem with my 08 tacoma where sometimes i would go to press on the gas and the pedel goes down but rpms take about 4-5 seconds before they come up so the truck rolls forward at like 5km/hr then the rpms jump up and the truck squeals the tires.

it only happened every 4-5 months so wasnt a big deal.

now this past weekend i was on a bit of a roadtrip through the mountains and had the same problem happen 10 times. now instead of this happening from a stop i was doing 60-90km/hr around a corner uphill and the power would cut out and rpms drop to 500rpm. the truck coasts for 5 seconds or so then the rpms jump and i have power again. not the biggest issue except in the ice and wet conditions i could lose the back end pretty quickly when the power comes back.

    any ideas?

my truck is a 2008 DCLB 4.0L auto 4x4 trd sport with 240,000kms.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
With that many miles it probably has something to do with fuel delivery, fuel pump and fuel filter is where I'd start. Have you noticed a drop in MPG or anything like that? Good luck!

i get about 440 kms (270ish miles) to a tank with my stock sized winters and about 300kms (185 miles) on my 33" km2's.

so in my mind pretty shitty mileage.

guess ill have to pull the box off and have a look.

Could be the accelerator pedal, too.

Yup, if it's not misfiring and running rough when this problem happens, then it may well be your brake pedal switch is faulty or misadjusted, causing the accelerator interlock to bring the engine to an idle. Check that the brake lights don't come on when the pedal is wiggled or depressed less than 1/4"

    Maybe a throttle position sensor.
