New member here, driving truck home from dealer engine light came on. When I got home some 2 hours later I reached for my coat which had fell down into the passenger foot area and parts of it were wet, The carpet was soaked. I'm thinking heater hose or cracked core on heater. Sound about right? Would it also be reason for check engine light or is that something else I need to check out?
Truck has 190,000 miles on it, one owner. Also might add that the heater was on the entire trip back home.

Raining or wet outside? Does it smell like antifreeze? A leaking windshield might be a suspect to.

Could be a stopped up drain tube for your AC condenser

Didn't have the air on, would it still be from the stopped up drain on AC condenser?
And no it wasn't wet or raining outside, however it had a lot of snow and ice in the bed and on the cowl, which I brushed off before driving home.
It didn't smell like antifreeze or leave a bad stain on my coat.

    Reserected from the dead.
If you have the heater set to defrost, you are using the A/C. Plugged a/c drain is pretty common and easy to fix.

A good way to check for a plugged drain without getting under the truck is to turn you're radio off after having the defroster on for a little while and go around a tight corner kind of quickly. If you hear water sloshing around, it's a good indicator of a stopped up plug.

Then just hop under the truck and find the drain tube. It's in the passenger side wheel well area on the inner side of the truck. Poke a stuck or weed whacker cable in there to get what ever is in there out.

As a previous poster has already written; the heater core or hose may be leaking.

Look under the dash, at the floor vents, for the heater; if there is moisture present, the leak is in the heater core area. If leaking you should see the anti-freeze; as it does not dry or evaporate as quickly as water.

On another note: Maybe the dealer just scrubbed the carpets, maybe!

    in adition to above suggestions:

rain water getting in from around front or rear windshield or side windows (bad gaskets or even unseen rust holes)
rain water getting in through hood cowling vent.
hole in floor letting rain or water puddles splash up into the truck
leaky door or window seals letting rain water in (check around bottom of door panels) (i have seen it drip in from the door speaker grills)
heater core leaking (check radiator water level to confirm)
blocked a/c drain (mostly only leaks when a/c has been used)

the best way is to follow the water to its highest point and if you cant guess at the origin then remove your carpet and hang it out to dry and leave it out until you find the water source. with the carpet out it is easy to find because the carpet isn't absorbing it and spreading it out everywhere.
