My dealer, Mountain States Toyota in Denver, requires that it be scheduled ahead of time. The first time I tried they were 7 days out, and the second it was 10 days. Stevinson Toyota's shops are 8-12 days out. Its absolutely ridiculous, I can't schedule an oil change that far out,so I just do my own.

The toypta plans screws techs who work flat rate. But the last service which is 30k is just oil change tire rotation brake i soe tion and replace the both filters. Engine and cabin. Toyota does offer the extension that goes to 45k for extra money of course.

The free two year maintenance plan only covers Tire Rotation and Oil / Oil Filter change, inspect and top off fluids.

None of the other stuff is covered.

I got my Tacoma at A1 Toyota in CT. with lifetime oil changes and price was great when i got it in late 2012.
Why they offer these deals is because 95% of the time people will trade or sell the car back to Toyota in 2 years or more. Now it helps them because they know the vehicle was taken care of, oil changed, tires always rotated, fluids always checked, breaks checked, any problems are taken care of. So when they buy the vehicle back its to their standards.

Free or not I will never let those bastages touch my vehicle again unless it's something I want done at the dealership and I have an opportunity to put in writing what I want done and how.

2006 Tacoma bought new...first FREE oil change. They flung oil all over the engine bay. Then, tried to sell me an air filter at 3500 miles:cool:...

2012 RAV4 (Wifes rig)....I bought a case of filters and 0w-20 oil at Walmart
2014 TRD Sport...I bought a case of filters and will get my oil at Walmart

I'm out about $120 to $160 per rig over each two year span. But I don't have to drive to the dealership and I don't have to have my ass reamed...I'd pay to not have that done.

I was under the impression that the 2 year/25,000 Toyota Care covered routine maintenance as listed in my 2013 Tacoma Warranty and Maintenance Guide. The 20,000 mile routine maintenance includes changing the cabin air filter, however my dealer (Bill Dube Inc - Dover, NH) refused to include the filter as part of the maintenance and charged me $36.95 (parts and labor). I am complaining to Toyota and awaiting their response.

Problem here is "under the impression"

Toyota is pretty clear what it covers:

Appreciate your input Re: Toyota Care. As best I can determine, neither the Owner's Manual or the Warranty/Maintenance Guide references Toyota Care, however I did find a 6 page Toyota Care brochure with the documents I got when I purchased the 2013 Tacoma. Page 3 of the brochure begins "With Toyota Care you'll receive 2 years or 25,000 miles of complimentary maintenance (with footnote 1 after maintenance)..........................

    Footnote 1 is explained thusly:
"Covers normal factory scheduled maintenance service. Plan is 2 years or 25,000 miles, whichever occurs first. See participating dealer for coverage details."

Replacement of the Cabin Air Filter is called for as part of the "normal factory scheduled 20,000 mile service".

Granted, page 5 of the brochure reads as follows for the 20,000 mile interval:
Toyota recommended Maintenance Log services (with a footnote 1) including:
Inspect and adjust all fluid levels/Replace engine oil and oil filter/Rotate tires/Multi-point vehicle inspection

Footnote 1 clarifies by stating "Excludes those items listed in the Maintenance Guide under Severe Operating Conditions

My problem is there is no mention of exclusion of the cabin air filter, which is part of the routine maintenance; only items in the Severe Operating Conditions are noted as excluded under the Tacoma Care program.

The only question remaining is can the dealer arbitrarily change the Toyota Care contract to not include the Cabin Air Filter contrary to the "normal scheduled factory maintenance". (I could not find any purchase documents from the dealer stating that the cabin air filter is excluded from the routine factory recomended 20,000 mile service.)

Absent a definitive exclusion, which I can not locate, I believe the statement under the first footnote "Covers normal factory scheduled maintenance service" entitles us to the cabin air filter replacement.

Just got a postcard from Toyota Program Headquarters asking me to extend my "no cost" Toyota Care Maintenance beyond the 2 year/25,000 mile period. Footnote 1 on the postcard reads: "ToyotaCare covers normal factory covered service. Excludes those items listed in the Maintenance Guide under Special Operating Conditions."

There is no mention that Cabin Filters are excluded.

Thus I continue to believe that Toyota care should include the regularly scheduled replacement of the Cabin Filter at 20,000 miles. I have filed a complain with the Federal Trade Commission and was told that if enough complaints were filed, the FTC would research the matter; however they will not initiate an investigation based on one complaint. If after reading this and my above post you believe you were deceived by the ToyotaCare program, please consider filing a complain, as I suspect thousands of Toyota owners have been misled by the ToyotaCare program.

I just had my 20,000 and the guy changed the cabin air filter for free. Just thought I'd chime in here.

I noticed that no mater what the brand is, if the service is on the dealers dime NOBODY needs to follow the special operating conditions schedule.

So the thread is kind of dead but just in case . . .
I'm half way between two Toy dealers. Both 100 miles R/T.
It will cost 10 to 15 in fuel to save $10 over local oil change,
plus two hours travel time to take advantage of the "free"
service. Tried to get selling dealer to give me an incentive to
come back every 5,000 miles - like a truck wash . . . no dice,
even the sales manager turned that down. Really?
Customer's time is worth nothing. I'll go back to the
Toy dealer in the other direction where my RAV was serviced.
At least there is better shopping. So much for the
    Toyota "Customer First" initiative.
