    05 Dcab 6spd 4x4 TRD Sport w/Tow
TRD exhaust Homemade bed mat & bed extender, front Drings, Short clutch throw, Summer: Stock 17's Winter: Blizzaks on 16' black steelies
Picked up one of the first Gen 2's in the area (2005 Model) a decade ago. 91,000 miles, only been to dealer once (leaf springs TSB).

    Updates/changes:
-Running Pennzoil Platinum in the motor, Full syn oil for 6-spd tranny, transfer and front diff.
-Use 80w-90 Syn blend w/ no fiction modifier in LSD rear diff. Still spins both wheels, no chatter.
-TRD exhaust, 9 y/o now, still looks and sounds good.
-Got 10 winters on Blizzaks tires, just changed to General Arctic Altimaxs. Mounted on 16x7 steelies for early Dec to late Mar.
-Stock H/T's were awful in winter, ok for summer. They lasted 30K, replaced w/ Kumho APT KPL51's for 3 season use, about the same and terrible in winter
-Cut a heavy 5/8" thick horse stall mat for the bed in winter
-Homemade bed extender, makes 5ft to 6.6ft
-Added a spacer to shorten clutch pedal travel
    -Added front lower bed D-rings
-Replaced org battery Feb 2013 (made it 8+ yrs, no complaints). Same Toyota battery for under $100.
-Undercoat the frame with chainsaw bar oil for years, but now using Fluid film, we'll see how it does this winter.
-Replaced front discs and pads at 60K. 1 of 4 pistons on both sides was frozen open. Both remanufactured calipers have froze since and needed replacement. Salt.

4x4 system: Thousands of miles in 4hi and use 4lo a couple times a month. No issues with transfer case.
Transmission & motor: Motor great. Copper plugs every 30K. 6spd has been fine. Slight clutch squeak on first shift into 2nd when really cold out.
Body: Paint is doing well, wax every 4 months. No rust... surprisingly.
Interior: Only electronic issue is overhead temp/compass went out, I resoldered, but went again. Otherwise no electronic issues. Seats, slight wear on the lumbar dial on drivers seats where you slide in. Interior bits holding up well overall.
Composite bed: holding up great, The tailgate handle tends to get sticky over the year. Un-do the Torx bolts on tailgate and got to lube it.
Steering: Have to grease the steering kunckle (above front left drive shaft) once a year. No grease Zerk, just lather it up good.

MPG: Mostly hilly rural driving, light city.
    -Avg 19.5 April-Nov
    -drops to 16-17 in winter
-Octane: I use 89. Towing 93. It pings on regular, esp up the hills.

    Issues:
-Was bottoming out with a load and leaf springs squeaked, but fixed w/ TSB.
-Frame rust, got to keep it coated each winter.
-Weak tailgate on 05's, so a plywood plank for weight dist when hauling enduro moto.
-The TRD sport 17 rims have bubbled on the edges. But really havent worsened over the years.
-Very sensitive ABS, not setup well for winter.

Overall continues to be a reliable truck. Still looks relatively new. My father got a 2013 SR5 4x4 acc cab I4 5spd, bro in law 2015 SR5 4x4 Dcab V6 auto, other than the Entune headunit not much has changed, and will keep running her for years.

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
Ha I remember in 2006 I saw YouTube video of some guy driving his double cab indigo ink on the frozen lake. I was like damn that color and that truck looks awesome. Nov 2006 got mine. :D
8 years later and truck still looks like new (minus few scratches)
Runs like brand new. Could not be happier with the purchase.

NICE....Mileage is low but it has lived a long time.

Used to owned a 2002 4Runner for 8.5 years with 80k miles and ALL I changed were: 4 tires, a battery, front brake pads, wiper blades (few set), 6 spark plugs, Toyota oil filter and Mobile1 oil, 6 PIAA bulbs (4 for headlight and 2 for fog). Finally SOLD for for about 45% of the purchased price. Not bad at all.

I'm up to 70k miles on my 2011, but nice to see they hold up for mileage and age.

The Altimax Arctic is a good tire. I had it on one of my Subarus for the winter. Running Yoko Geolandar I/Ts on my Tacoma for the winter now. Got a steal on them and they do very well.

I see you have an 05 and are in NY. Just curious could you tell us more about your frame rust. What year did you start coating it? How rusty was it before you started coating? And how much has the oil coating helped or how rusty is it now?
