My cruise control will no longer turn on (i.e., pushing the button on the end of the control stalk). Is there a way to diagnose if it is just the button that is dead, versus the CC computer itself? Just trying to figure out what exactly needs replacing...

    Anyone have experience with this?

Do these trucks have a brake pedal switch that activates the brake lights? Both my wife and I had a Chevy aveo and both of them had switches behind the brake pedal. When you pressed the brakes, the switch would release causing the lights to come on. The cruise control also ran through this switch so when the switch went out and failed, both the brake lights and cruise control wouldn't work. That's how I always knew it was bad....again and had to be replaced.

Is your truck a manual transmission?

When you turn on the cruise does the dash indicater light up? If not then check the fuse. If fuse is good then check brake pedal switch. If you have a manual also check the clutch pedal switch. if those are good then the culprit is most likely the clockspring.
