With all the available Wheel Offsets and Backspacing available in the open market, I just wanted to ensure there will be no vibration/shake issues when I upgrade to a bigger tire(285/70/17) Duratracks maybe, at any speed. If you have this set up on your truck and have a 3" lift please chime in on your experience. What is the IDEAL offset and backspacing for a 17X8 and 18X9 wheel? Thanks in advance for your input :) as I am in my homework/research phase of my wheel/tire mod :D

Chances of a 3" lift causing driveline vibes are much greater and more difficult to pinpoint than a new set of wheels/tires causing vibes. Stick with a 16-17" wheel due to cost and availability versus 18's. A BS of 4.25-4.5" should be fine for a 17x8 wheel with 285/70-17.

Agreed but I know now that my lift doesn't produce any vibes at any speed so if it does when I do my upgrade, i can credit it to the wheel/tire hopefully it wont get to that point. Its just a big purchase and wanted absolute satisfaction. Thanks for your input. :)

I'm curious on this as well, I have already purchased the 3" lift, and the 285/70/17 tires.
only thing left is wheels, and I have no idea what offset to get.

I'm running 285/70/17's with 4.53" backspacking and -12mm offset on my Helo wheels and have never had an issue with them

    17x8 4.5" BS. 0mm offset.

No reason to stick out further than that

Less than that likely to rub on UCA

Usual Disclaimers: Your mileage may vary. Objects in the rear view mirror are closer than they appear. Beverage may be very hot. There is no oxygen in space -- plan on providing your own.

The wheels i like are the Eagle 023, 17x9, 4.75 BS and -5 offset. But tire shop says it will rub on stock UCA's coz of the -5 offset. Is this true? I have a 3" lift.

Uhhh, ask 'em how much backspacing and offset they think the stock wheels have?

Or just try a more knowledgeable tire dealer.

As i read along the forum, some say not to be concerned with the offset but the back spacing is the important number.
